Carlos Ghosn, the Renault/Nissan head, is rumoured to join the board of Russia’s AvtoVaz. Renault is proposed to take a 25% stake in the Russian firm some time this year.
Ghosn has recently been quoted as saying Russia will be the most important auto market in Europe over the next 2 years.
Ghosn will bring a huge amount of experience to the Russian car maker as Russia expands into the 21st century. Ghosn has largely been credited with the turn around of Nissan during the last 8 years into a healthy, profitable company. As such he his highly regarded within the corporate automotive sector.
AvtoVaz and Renault were not available for comment at this time but rumour has it that AvtoVaz may be lining up to build Megane's and Logan's in their plants.
