Real or fake, it is never really clear until the official press releases come through the usual channels. Leaks on the other hand are becoming more common by the auto show so it stands to reason that this may just be the real deal. Points for authenticity are given due to the amount of shots (including interior), but the rear looks like it could have been computer edited.

On cartribe.co.uk the first five images of the new Audi Q5 surfaced today, photographed from the upcoming Auto Bild issue. At least, that is what the source says but in none of the images can we spot a date or issue number from the magazine. The only thing we can confirm is that the article is in German.

Either way, the front and side look as expected but the rear displays some new styling. Out with the curvy and in with rectangle-ish taillights, the rear light cluster resembles nothing Audi has ever done before. On a production vehicle that is, the Audi Cross Cabriolet Concept, which debuted at the LA Auto Show, features a similar tail light cluster. On a side note, the Q5 was initially scheduled to make it world premiere at the LA Auto Show, but has been pushed to Geneva instead.

Thanks to Tom for the tip.

[UPDATE] AutoBild has an ad for their print magazine (issue 6/2008) on their front page claiming to feature exclusive Audi Q5 images. Thank you Bartinho.

[UPDATE]  02/25/2008 - photos removed as requested by Auto Bild

i think it^s real. autobild often has good photo footage. the things written in german are descriptions of what you are able to see on the pics anyway.

The front lights seem outdated for the latest/next generation of Audis, namely the R8, A5, the TT-S and the A4. Won't they have the LED running lights throughout the range?

seems only to be S, RS and R models

Maybe these should be photos of a version without Xenon... Like the A3...if you dont have ordered Xenon you also wont have these LED-Lights....

this is definitely not a photoshop render. did you see the magazines!? if they'd publish it in a mag they it should almost certainly be real!!!

seems strange...the wheels look flat, the licence plate looks to be computer added. I think it is the camoed Q5 with some edit

I agree. it's not real. partly the audidesign is fitted, but there are some untypical aspects about the taillights, the headlights (audi will offer all new cars with LED-daylights) and of course: the wheels and licenceplates, they are definitly added!!

Computer generated for sure, as some have already noticed flat fake wheels (taken from the allroad) and plates and weird headlights, plus the front end is out of proportion in respect to the rest of the body, grotesque center console added, etc. If that were the definitive car the whole design team would be already jobless!

The interior is definitely a photoshopped picture. Look at the bold and ugly integration of the centerstack display and 2 (!?) setups of MMI-controls, both on tunnel console and on centerstack... cut and paste from the 2 versions of the new A4 MMI-infotainmentlevels...

look at the emergency-lights button next to the screen, it is 100% photoshoped.

thats the hvac controlsm up top, and the mmi down bottom. its real.

jestercaruso, I still think it is a partly or fully photshopped interior. The MMI-like controls on centerstack looks like the climate controls, but the design is very close to the low end A4/A5 MMI-controls but with some blurry climate icons and no separate climate display(?). Why should Audi design and develop a new climate panel for the Q5 when they recently did a new one for the A4/A5? Seems money not well spent to me...

Ich weiß nicht...well, the interior looks real, the exterior good, but I think there are few changes added by for example the licence plate...

The head- and taillights are real imho. They have LEDs, they are just appearing as lines. its audis new LED design. like the new R8 V12. the paper its printed on looks like the typical AUTOBILD layout, so i guess its not a photoshop rendering, its real imho. this should be it.

The tail lights do a lot of sucking.

Looks like a sharper Q7. Love the rear lights and the front follows the new style for Audi, just like the new A4 and the A5! WANT TO GET OFFICIAL PICTURES!

by the way, 4.75m? this would mean it is as long as a VW Touareg and bigger than the first generation of the Mercedes ML and BMW X5. Close to the ideal size of an SUV.

P.S. the rims and licence plate are NOT real
