Am not, at least aesthetically speaking it's quite average for a Pininfarina design, and the front end looks Bertone'ish.

This is exactly why design firms are integral to the evolution of the automobile -- I wouldn't expect in-house design teams to be as radical (or waste as many resources) in pursuit of making something as inspiring as this Sintesi. They'd sooner focus their attention, as we've seen, modernizing their company's design horizons.
The purity and elegance of design in the genes of the Sintesi make me believe this is going to be as close to an unadulterated glimpse of the future as we're likely to see today.

I wouldn't be so optimistic. If we were to follow the trend set by increasing totalitarian/demagogic bureaucracies, and to which some automakers seem to submit more than gladly, by the time this (otherwise interesting) concept becomes reality, cars will be entirely automated. Is that what we really want? PS: Notice the passive attitude of the "driver" on these drawings...
