Very impressive indeed- yet begs the question of why mercedes itself didn't do it originally...

Almost every stock car in the world can be improved by just helping the engine breathe more or adding a computer that burns fuel more efficiently. Mercedes is no exception. They can get much more HP from their v8's and v6's, but that takes more r&d and can make the car less reliable, so Mercedes decides this thing is not made for racers. Its for parents have a little extra money to spare who want to get from point A to B. Why add more cost to a car for people who dont care about an extra 47 hp.
