Few BMW vehicles have been more cherished than the 2002 tii. That is so true since BMW had chosen the car to demonstrate it could rebuild one of its classic vehicles only with spare parts, in 2006, and also used it as the inspiration for the BMW 1 Series Coupe tii Concept, presented at the Tokyo Motor Show. Natural decision, since this is a car BMW fans are eager to buy again. The good news is that it seems the production version of the concept car has been spotted in Germany by the website 1Addicts.com.
Although there is no information along with the pictures, many features are exactly the same the BMW 1 Series Coupe tii Concept first presented, such as the wheels, the sports bucket seats with Alcantara cover, the rear air dam and the gurney flaps. Some may think all of this equipment could have been bought from tuners, but not the steering wheel with the small screen on the top. It was discreetly presented in Detroit, according to the original topic. Considering the auto show ends today, no one would have had time to develop a similar steering wheel so quick.
No technical specs has been released for the BMW 1 Series Coupe tii Concept besides the size of the wheels (18 inches) and a little mass reduction, in order to make the car run faster, but we can bet on the same engine used by the 135i, a six-cylinder inline biturbo that delivers 306 bhp. Maybe BMW fans won’t have to miss the 2002 tii anymore…

im sure this car is gonna success more than the 3- Series ... but i have to see a real one to judge if it is realy for fun or just another stuped car

So.... Being that it is a hacth-back (techically), with 306 bhp. Would it be safe to compare it among the ranks of such as the STIs and Evos? I think BMW did a good move bringing this car back.

The only 1-series models listed on www.bmwusa.com is the 128i and 135i.
The tii if produced should sit above the 135i.
The 1-series tii is probably the closest there is to having an M version for the BMW 1-series. Its like a 135i but given the M/CSL treatment.

blah This is no tii whatsoever, it's a tuning clone. Look at those cheap pedals, inserts and stickers, plus unchanged suspension height. And what's the point in keeping the same specs as the 135i? A true tii should deliver +340hp regardless of weight reduction.

Now seeing up close a couple of pictures that wouldn't open earlier it looks like some factory test car, but it'd be sad if the definitive version doesn't get the white rev dial and a lowered suspension. And those wheels look outdated :(

BMW 3 series coupe and 1 eries coupe rear lights are not Audis design. Infact it's the other way round. the out goindg A4 rear light look so much like the 2000 7 series. Go take a look and see just how many car makers have stolen design cues from this 7 (Audi: I drive, Merc: Dash board, I drive and Boot lid, Lexus LS 460: Boot lid). It really must have been a good car for all the others to plunder it's design cues.

Thats right, car is already overpriced as a 135i. Nicely equipped youre looking at 45000 Euro.
Oh, and: The car is so tiny, you cant get into the back seats if youre not a midget.
@wisp: Audi has stolen i drive from BMW ? What are you thinking? Ever tried the MMI System ? Its worlds better than I drive, and always was.

That's cheap demagogy, you're not paying for the brand, but for all the development, technology and quality you won't find on cheaper cars. What other car feels like a 135i for under 50K? Maybe the Audi TT-S, and it's not gonna be cheaper by any means.

What a beauty in white!
BTW, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If I ever need to turn back to have a second glance (several times), then it's definitely beautiful for me.
1 Coupe is the pinnacle of current BMW design theme together with 3 coupe and X5. However that doesn't mean I'm fond of the X6 or current 3 Series sedan!
Audi also fails sometimes: Just look at A3 Cabriolet from behind. Those ugly rollbars!!! May be they thought that these looked fine on Mini Cabriolet too!!! Absolute rubbish!

The rear of the Audi A3 cabriolet is not ugly. What is it about the rollbars that you don't like catch22? They have to be high...if u want them to protect the passengers just in case it does roll over for some particular reason.

Those rollbars wreck the design of the car, and shouldn't be that high (above front headrests) in a 4-seat convertible. The best solution in this case are retractable rollbars, but it's obviously more expensive to build.

This is not a convertible, so the retractable roll bars are pointless because no one will see them.

For a sport BMW, it will be all about weight. If it is heavy, even with 306 hp, the feeling will be far from sporty. I like very much these seats, they seem promising. Hopefully, the enginners will put a nice Limited Slip Diff for the 1 tii, maybe a Torsen or something that works well. A must have on a rear wheel drive coupe. As for AWD (someone mentioned it above), I don't think sport BMW coupe and AWD match...
