120bhp is gutless! That thing will struggle to pull a door closed.

This might be a mistake. Last time I heard about this engine it was rated at 170hp for A4. Why would they make a better one over the old 1.8T with less power, doesn't make sense. However it gets around 39 mpg. You may like it for this reason not for power. Tuners will have fan for sure.

It's obviously an error. The A4 1.8 TFSI engine has 118 Kw that is 160 bhp. The 1995 A4 1.8 engine (not supercharged) had 125 bhp

agree.. the power figures are definitely misprints, the author needs to check their sources before posting.... and why would they bring the 1.8tfsi to market??? they already have the wonderful 2.0tfsi!! rediculous...

The 2.0 TFSI requires 98 RON fuel which is not available in most countries. The 1.8 TFSI is designed for 'world wide' deployment because it is optimised for 95 RON fuel. Where I live, we have to drive around to get 95 RON and you can forget 98 RON -It's not available at all.

The old 1.8 Turbo had 150 HP, so relasing such an engine with 120 HP would be a big step back

Ewww... I thought this ought to be a mistake and went for Audi's website, but there you go. 1.8 TFSI/120hp. 170hp makes for a nice entry model, but 120hp won't get this anywhere IMO. This still isn't a microcar.

lol why don't you like look at the audi website says 1.8 TFSI engine 160ps = 157BHP so yeah must be a misprint...

It certainly is, but in case of the A4 it comes with 120hp standard.

Have you missed da torque question? Why can a 120cv be weaker than a older 150cv? Have you compared torque values? I think, nowadays, a engine for all-round situations, should be, fast-response, joy to drive...economic! I think 120cv with 230Nm is a way better! (as far as all round use is concerned)

this is not a misprint - this engine is available in two forms: 120PS/230NM & 160PS/250NM and they will do 129/10.5 140/8.6 top whack and 0-100kph
