Meet The New MC1 Supercar
Motorcity Europe director Dave Hilton is out to prove the major car manufacturers wrong. Fully designed in under 90 days, his company's latest scheme is to produce a concept of their 600 horsepower MC1 supercar.
"Initially I wanted to demonstrate that, in a short time, one designer can create and build a fresh design which is still possible for street development," Hilton told Car Body Design. At a time when manufacturers often take years just to develop a concept, Hilton has plans that could revamp the industry.
Expected to hit production in about three years, the MC1 will have a V10 in the middle, carbon-fibre unibody, and scissor doors, giving it the true supercar look. The length of the car, 4,503 mm, is less than a centimeter shorter than the Ferrari F430, and has a width of 1,905 mm, or 1.7 centimeters narrower than the F430. The car is right in between the F430 and the Koenigsegg CCR in terms of height, coming in at 1,150 mm.
Plans for the MC1 include 20-inch wheels at the front, and 21-inch wheels in back.
Motorcity Europe launches MC1 Supercar
Motorcity Europe Ltd., operated by Designer David Hilton, has just released images of the MC1 concept. The MC1 is a proper Supercar. Dimensions = 4503 x 1905 x 1150. Intended as a ‘production concept’ mid-engine program, this vehicle will be under further development by a yet to be announced UK coachbuilder. The body sits on 20" front and 21" rear wheels, and will be powered by a V10 600bhp motor. Estimated production release date is set for 2011. Performance figures are TBD.
The design, with its Jet Fighter winglets and classic Supercar motifs, will have a carbon monocoque body and scissor doors. From the plan view, the MC1 is a blend of full sculptural and animalistic graphics. Elegant forms are also prominent along the entire centre line of the vehicle. The rear, by contrast, is more geometric with floating functional details and deep set, hidden lamps. "This first concept was digitally produced in only 3 months time from a single sketch and a basic package", explains Hilton "Initially I wanted to demonstrate that, in a short time, one Designer can create and build a fresh design which is still possible for street development. This has helped immensely in order to quickly sell the concept, under limited budget constraints. In terms of future Design, I believe we are going to see more dynamic and sculptural surfaces executed with a much higher demand on perceived and real quality elements".
Founded in January 2000, Motorcity Europe currently works with several European and Asian OEM's on both concept and production levels of Automotive Design Styling. MCE Director David Hilton’s design credentials include such vehicles as the Focus RS and ST, production sports cars for C2P-UK, the L-GT Supercar, and co-designer of 2007 Car of the Year S-Max.
