Not everybody in the US is big an fat so why not? Do they all need a HUGE SUV to pick up the kids from school? I don't think so. European cars need half the fuel an american car needs. Not to mention a small car like VW Polo is. That time will come sooner or later, americans live on this planet too with the same fuel and pollution problems like everybody else, the only difference being their (still) ridiculous fuel price... The people "above" know why.

Why not? The current Volkswagen Polo is actually bigger than the original Rabbit. It's a very safe, spacious and well built vehicle, so I think it's not a bad idea to sell this model in the US.

i am getting a smart car and they had 30,000 people on their waiting list. The mini is in high demand here, not too mention honda fit, etc. great for the vw image

yes but definitely bring the TDI as the first priority, not this twincharger that will cost ungodly amounts to service, maintain, especially with the vehicle is older...

Vw's have always seamed over priced and expensive to maintain. I like their look, roominess and ride, but could buy other cars in the same class for thousands less than a VW.

I like vw's look, roominess and ride, consider the rabbit; I could buy other cars in the same class for at least $1500 less than a VW, get better gas mileage and will cost less to fix.

If VW brings Polo with new TDI engine which gets 74.3 mpg(check it at Popupar Mechanics) then if you think you can find a non hybrid car, good luck to you.

I spent some time in the us in '96-'97 and worked at an auto-show for vw there. At that time people allready asked about the Polo. I definatly think that bringing the Polo to the US could strengthen VW's place in the US market.

Now, that is cool. Finally, VW saw the light. I am student of Electrical Engineering, and have been looking around for what 2007/8 Golf (Rabbit) hoping that VW would bring the TDI Bluemotion. It's a great car for the money. But, to be honest, the Golf is just too big for a student who carries with books and girlfriend. So, it would be wonderful among youngsters if they bring the TDI Polo to the States. VW always gives you this sense of solid, well-built German cars. If VW does not bring it, well blame the Oil-Mafia and the congress man whose wallet would damage with a car of this magnitude.

Polo TDi or Polo cup
It makes no difference, as long as it's priced well.
VW does one thing really good, Image.
They appeal to young people without Cheezy gimmicks like Center dash mounted Speedos or weirdly positioned
shifters. They look smart, but look deeper and a smart person will buy a Toyota. But not a scion which falls into the aformentioned category.
