This thing is going to weight too much is my guess. The fact that there is no specific mention in the press release is suspect.

German auto motor sport mag said it weighs 230kg more than the coupé version. Go figure.
Couldn't find proper info, so I did. 3.8kg/hp gives us 1596kg with the 4.2 litre 420hp V8. And that's the coupé, not the four-door limousine, so weight is without the non-carbon roof.
1596kg + 230kg = 1826kg (given they compared its weight to the M3 coupé with carbon roof).
1800+ kilos? IMHO that's an awful lot for a sportscar.

Err ... me maxima culpa.
I just found the full specs 'round here. *coughs*
Weight, unladen, to DIN1): 1,810kg
Weight, unladen, to EU2): 1,885kg
Max load to DIN: 470kg
Max permissible to DIN: 2,280kg
2,280. [...]
Alright, noone's gonna go for that weight, but just imagine the car fueled at 1,885kg with 2 proper passengers at (man/woman combo) 72kg each. 2,029kg.
There you go.
The proper two-ton sports ride.

230kg more? I know they wanted to stiffen it up a bit, but did they put concrete in it or what? That's too much, especially when you get from stand to 100km/h in 5.4 in new Audi TT-S. I like it anyways.
Greeting from Poland.
