Tata Motors may be buying Land Rover sooner than you would think, but that has not stopped them from developing their own SUV. The Tata Sumo Grande will be available in showrooms starting this January.

The Tata Sumo Grande is built with a longer wheelbase than is usual for Tata, namely 2550 mm in comparison to the current 2400mm. The SUV features three rows of seats and is powered by the new generation 2.2 liter direct injection common rail (DICOR) engine, fitted with a variable geometry turbocharger.

Even though the Sumo Grande has been awaited by many people, the real news from Tata will come tomorrow when they will unveil the highly anticipated 'People's Car' at the Auto Expo.

every corner looks terrifying! Let's hope they don't have any input with Jaguar, but if they make over Land Rover's interiors we might get rid of England's Hummer.

This "THING" is hidious its so ugly it makes daewoo look good, lets just pray that when they do take over land rover thay dont end up like this kos that would be a damn shame

You guys are absolutely right, the SUV is cheap! boxy and does'nt come to anything sold in the U.S ... but then again do you guys know how much it costs? 17,000 US dollars. Seating for 7 4x4 for 17k ... you cant ask for much can you, basically a reliable box on 4 wheels :P

Anyways Tata wont touch land rover, all they will do is inject all the money it will take to make land rover a success and take alot of valuable knowledge.

You dumb people. Indian company will buy Land Rover and sell these expensive SUVs as garbage trucks. You people will never get it. Tata's and other companies are building vehicles to carry people from point A to point B at a very reasonable cost (Capex and Opex). You people are the biggest consumers of earths resources but still you dnt stop complaining and appreciate if someone has done some good job. How many of u can actually afford a hummer or 911. Not the people in this post i am sure. So stop cribbing u jack asses and learn to appreciate.

Come on guys. We are talking MUV not SUV. In comparison to the Tavera or Qualis, the Grande looks quite good and going by Tata's other products I'm sure it will be VFM. Kudos to Tata.

unfortunately sone people cannot digest and tolerate the growth and development of other people, everyone makes a begining tata has made one this time and also FYI tata moves this nation and many other nations much before many of us were even born , take a break guys you have a choice of buying an expensive car but that dosent mean that less expensive cars are not good
