Looks like a Merc S-class front, the side of a 5 series BMW, and the rear from a Lexus.. Why does koreans always copy other cars instead of designing their own?? Look at the Hyundai I30 - the rearend is a modified BMW 1-series :S

Interior looks pretty good, neat and functional. Not sure about the Lexus-like cheap-wood-look though. Some of the plastics also seem borrowed from next door

Before you all start slating Hyundai for unoriginality remember that the American and German luxury saloon has only recently become adventurous

very good point joelynn, it wasn't that long ago when most luxury saloons were just boxes with bigger motors and leather/wood interiors.

Have to admit it looks really good, and you can't beat the price.

the only good think is the price for the ingredints from the back it looks like both nissan maxima and lexus LS but the design is so ...(I don't know what to say

Now before i get started, I must say it does look rather well, and it does have style... from everyone.
1. The front reminds me of the current Mercedes-Benz s-class.
2. The headlamps remind me of the current Lexus Ls.
3. The rear HINTS at the Lexus sedans.
4. From the side, the chrome around the bottom looks like the Lexus LS.
5. From the side the chrome surounding the windows and on the door handles looks like the current Infiniti M45.
6. The over all side looks like the current BMW 5 series, with a touch of Acura RL near the front.
7. The interior looks like the Infiniti Q54 and current M45, maybe some of the new Merc s-class around the gear selector.
Don't get me wrong, the car does look good, but...
It has ANOTHER Bmw i-drive rip off, like the Mercedes and Audis. I just want to change the radio with the push of one button is that to much to ask? No one (or very few) liked the Bmw trunk lid on the BMW, the Mercedes, nor the Lexus, why did Hyundai think people would like it here? Why does any car maker insist upon adding that trunk lid? So i say it agian, Yes it looks good, its more exciting than the Jaguar XF, and beter priced than the other luxury cars, but I think I'd rather drive one of the cars that inspired it, than this. Sorry, but thats just what I think of the Hyundai Genesis (Mercedes S class, Infinti M45, Lexus LS, Bmw 5 series)

Mercedes and Audi didn't do idrive-ripoffs. Mercedes was the first to have a central controlsystem for all carfunctions and Audi has a totally different system than BMW. In fact BMW idrive and Audi MMI were present the same week and have different concepts.
idrive is the worst of all premium Headunit-systems because it has very complicated menues. Audi and Mercedes have a much more userfriendly systems without annoying menues.

True Eddy, but I didnt really mean rip as in same features, but as it being a knob in the middle of the center console, and the absence of a conventual radio.

Well the design really looks like mixing up designelements of different germen cars. The classical BMW Hofmeister kink, the Mercedes W220 front and the rear is a mixture of the new C-class, classical BMW-backlights and a little bit of Lexus. If they can't design some think really original they should just buy their car design at Pininfarina, Giugiaro, Zagato, Fisaker or Sivax.
P.S.: The first really adventurous newer luxury sedans were the 1995 Audi A4 and the 1997 Audi A6 with their modern rounded outline. That has really been copied by a lot of automakers. There are allways some automakers who have the revolutionary new design for a decade.

Looks really good! Look-alike new Honda Accord. I now it?s a bigger class, but the exterior line much the same. Interior, classic Hyundai?s style.
January 8, 2008 8:27 pm
Cause they don't know a thing or two about cars, and they have to copy every single car maker. Two thumbs down for you hyundai

Every car looks like another one! This is a new model so it's easy to say it looks like an S-Class etc. Give it a rest and let it be!

The best thing about Genesis is RWD..That's enough. Accord still have FWD..Also it looks pretty good.

Though its styling is truely mix-up of design cues from the major competitors in the world, it cannot be blamed. Because modern cars are shaped by a lot of getting-more- stringent safety/environmental related regulations and thus they are getting closer in design. I personally accept its design except front grille which is definitely not my taste.
What I am surprising most is that they posted price or value-for-money as their prime message. If they keep on doing this for other ad. or SP media, their brand position/image will never be improved and cheap-but-OK image even for their flagship model would be fixed long. Is this the goal what Hyundai looking for??

$30,000 dream on!...the azera sells for 30 grand alone...dealers are look at 40 g's for this one. And im sorry, no way im spending 35 + on a Hyundai when i can go get a Cadillac CTS or Infinite G35 for the same price (a little smaller but has the same options). Oh, and they have more inspiring looks

SD-AMG
I am agree with you , and the interior is looks like Infinity, some buttons are from AUDI

Looks like a great one! The headlights remind me of the new Corsa, but it still has its own character and you would always recognize it when you see it on the road! Fantastic successor of the Grandeur!

i think this is a really nice looking car, i can bet no one seeing it on the street would tell this is a hyundai without seeing the rear badge. Yes it is impressed by the 5 series, S-class, LS and maybe some other cars, but this is only a plus for this one, especially taking the price into account.

$30,000 is resonable for a Hyundai, I'm not suprised by the Korapean bashing brigade comments beside sure Hyundai can go different direction on design but it seems that unlike the germans maker like BMWs etc, Hyundai seems they are not willing to take big risk on going for broke on groundbrecking innonative designs just yet, seems like they want to play safe by looking up to the germans as their "role models", personally I don't find anything wrong with that. Like it or lump it the Korapean designs are here to stay.
