Due to hit showrooms in 2010, here is yet another spotting of the BMW X1 out on public roads getting ready for a possible debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The 1 series based X1 will share the same platform as the new Mini Crossman SUV and will be a similar size to the Ford Kuga and Toyota RAV4, but expect pricing to come in a little higher than its direct competitors at around 32 000 Euros.

The prototype pictured is still under heavy camouflage giving us little cues as to the eventual styling, but we expect a pre-production concept model to be presented first – possibly later this year

The X1 will inherit the engines from the 1 series range but due to high costs there is little chance of a hybrid engine, with development likely to focus on the new 7-series.

They really want to delude thier products, don't they? That's if this thing is released in the US, in which, I hope not!

"delude" you don't even know what it means.

Maybe he meant 'dilute'. That makes more sense.

I have a feeling ferrariguy wanted to say "dilute" instead of "delude". Question is, is BMW leading a lone crusade or will the other premium auto makers follow suit and make vehicles named Q1/Q3, XC 30 or ALK?

Audi develop a Q3! And the X1 will not share the same platform as the new Mini Crossman SUV!!!

These small SUV's are a bit pointless to me. However I think this one will look very nice

It's strange how markets can alterate a brand's identity. They are building very fast cars, but BMW should very very fast cars, also. There aren't any voices that would preddict a supercar coming. Instead they are building these cars for smiley faces and teenaged spoiled brats. There still isn't any answer for SLR, there is an SLC coming soon, and not a single spy photo of a BMW supercar. I am a huge fan of BMW, I own one and I owned an E46 and an E39, but I don't think this is the way for such an iconoc brand.
