sigh! 345g/km is almost 3 times the target of 120g/km set by EU. The Earth is inhabitated by 6 billion people and millions of cars! When will you guys ever learn? Stop your selfishness!

I don't like it. The whole car looks depressing. Its overall shape reminds me of a frown, atm the only other vehicle I can recall being shaped like that is a 99 ford Taurus.

you really have no taste. How does a Ford Tarurus compare to this car? Why don't you go learn something about design and aesthetics before you say something like that again. Sure you're entitled to your opinion, but the Taurus was a complete mess; no bodyline, lumped shapes, huge cave ins in the side, incomparable to the CLS.

All I was saying is that this car has really bad lines. Yes every component of this car looks decent, for the most part this car can't be compared to the Taurus... but that is not what I was saying. The overall shape still follows the lines of the Taurus. And sorry Suckio, I didn't realize posting an opinion different then that of the masses was considered trolling. Yes that was sarcasm.

i don't see anything wrong with this car haha
ive seen it in person many times (a normal CLS500 and an AMG version of it), and its beautiful in person... its different and it has class

Fantastic car, still, after all these years. And Joe Limon, don't troll everywhere you get, the same comment you posted on autoblog.

great car! and the wheels sure inspired by 911 Turbo..they said that earlier when the new SL leaked!
December 30, 2007 11:18 pm
haha inspired..thats really hard to believe. Mercedes is too original as a company to be 'inspired' by something. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lawsuit sometime in the future lol.

Yea exactly what I meant. Mercedes went too low with copying those wheels.

Great inside, but the outside looks an old Cadillac Seville, remember the car? It's trunk sloped down like this ugly design. I know everyone is all stoked about the 4-door coupe thing... but this early entry needs a real update. Soon!

i think someone needs a proof reader....

Nice car for daily use . and its not ugly at all . ford taurus ??? funy . Cadillac Seville ? have u seen them or just searched for `car` on google ? there is just one dissapointing thing about the car . 500hp 7gbox and still 4.5 sec to reach 100km , and there is no cls65
December 31, 2007 5:04 am
The 65s are only for the high end mercedes; the S, CL and SL. Don't expect a 65 for any of the other classes, all has to do with marketing crap i think.

I have owned nearly 30 cars over the years, and studied design at ArtCenter in Pasadena, the overall design lacks solid features. Sadly, it seems the new Benzs language is a mix of conflicting surfaces, somewhat like the BMW 7s. The interior is where this car shines, true coach-built design and fit and finish. The person who mentioned the Taurus was onto something, especially from the back with its down-turned surfaces and excessive character lines... perhaps Audi could help Mercedes clean up this and other recent designs to bring back some clarity to an otherwise decent marquee. As 'facelifts' go, subtle is an understatement. This is a half-hearted attempt to stave off the age of this old beast. One other thought, when is Mercedes going to actually design attractive rear-view mirrors!? They keep using these chunky bland shapes while the competition, mainly BMW, deliver articulate and aerodynamic forms that look the part of a high end machine. Strange.
Peace!

4.5 0-60 marg wtf are you talking about my dude 1st of all 100 km/h is 62 mph so it makes it 0-60 in 4.3 but when you have a car like that you don't look at 0-60 because it all denepends how you launch the car and 0-60 is nothing for these cars you wont even notice how fast you'll get to a 100 talking about 60 mph , there are a lot of examples when 0-60 one car might be faster but after the other car will eat it , i thought 0-60 matters when i was 17 lol

I really love that car. The CLS is without doubt one of the beautiful modern cars. Ford Taurus and Cadillac??? :D Hahahaha!
December 31, 2007 10:20 am
The best design from Mercedes by far. I love this car. It has presence and it's gorgeus. The facelift changes seem to be very subtle
December 31, 2007 12:35 pm
Its a fabulous car. Bemmer and audi are struggling with their designers and engeneers to bring a competitor to this car that sold a lot (can????t remember the numbers) much more than anyone ever expected. classy and elegant.

THE CLS WAS A GROUNDBREAKING DESIGN. WITNESS THE FACT OF THE NEW JAGUARXF AND THE SOON TO COME PORSCHE PANAMERA. IMITATATION IS THE MOST SINCERE FORM OF FLATTERY.

This is probably the most amazing car that Merc has to offer in that they've utilized both super luxury and super sports and conceived a cross between Buckingham Palace and Lewis Hamilton's MP4-22.
