I could have sworn the reason MB dropped the 55 Kompressor engine from the line up was because the 7G-Tronic couldn't handle the torque it was putting out. Same reason they don't currently use it on the 600 or 65 AMG engines. Now we learn that Kleeman is using it on a 1000Nm car. I'm confused...

more than likely its 'cause of the hit a sc will give the drive train in comparison to being able to gently roll into the power of the turbos by using computer controlled boost. limiting the amount of power until fifth or sixth gear.

I am sure you can control boost on a supercharged setup just as well if not better than on a turbo setup all it requires is a valve operated by a solenoid. Who knows why they used the 5speed instead of the 7, maybe overstocked and they knew not too many 65s would get sold, or maybe they wanted to fully test out the 7spd before putting it into their flagships.

Turbocharged 6.3? Maybe it has never occured to these people that Mercedes reserved the turbocharger for the 6.5, and even removed the supercharger from the 5.5. One reason why I really go for the originals instead of these newfangled tuner versions.

Ummm the S65 and all 65s are 5.98L V12s not 6.5L and the 63 is really a 6.2L V8. The closest to a 6.5L you will get with mercedes is the brabus bored out and stroked 6.3L V12. This is a slightly modified Brabus Bi-turbo setup with higher boost and 4 less tubes on the exhaust manifold in my opinion, but i might be wrong.

Oh and all the 600s are 5.5L V12 Bi-Turbos too so the 65s arent the only turbos in mercedes's lineup.

right..i forgot that the 65 had a smaller displacement than the 63 for a while there. What was the point of that comment about 600s having biturbos..really irrelavant.
