New Acura NSX Production Delayed

a v10 ? well, that will make things more interesting. Honda should do more with the exterior, it is ugly, ok it is futuristic..but UGLY. Production delayed ? finance problem honda ?

The original NSX was groundbreaking. The next one should be too. The only ground the concept should be breaking is in a cemetery!

Acura's los angeles design team should not have a hand in designing the new NSX, RSX, TSX, or any other model that they put out. I agree with benz_man the original NSX had a mig-engine and was groundbreaking the next one should be the same they cannot afford to do anything less than a something that exceeds nissan's GT-R and with Toyota trying to come out with a car with 500hp. This concept will not help the company!

DeRay: The LA design team has done an excellent job so far (especially with the TL), and anything else they've turned out so far has been favoured enough for Honda to continue giving them the task of designing Acuras. I don't really mind. And personally, I don't think this concept's ugly. It's a bit all over the place, yes, but it has some potential. Of course it's definitely not "awesome" either.... At least this time around they're not just copying Ferrari. As for using a V10, I think they should stop with the copy-cat BS - ever since the Europeans started producing V10 supercars and super-sedans, everyone wants a piece of the action. I think going from their current usage of V6 engines to a nice solid dependable V8 based on the current VTEC design (maybe two VTEC straight-4s bolted end to end). With a bit more development money (which I'm sure Honda has), they could easily be able to make a high-revving 4.4L V8 with a good 450BHP, which would be plenty if the car weighs as little as the original NSX did (not that I'm really expecting that to happen). Acura (Honda) should just build this thing already - I hate how everyone thinks the GTR is the s*** - the NSX has always been the only Japanese supercar I respected to any degree, and all the electronic software handling work on the GTR and their 8 years of work to make it catch up to or edge over the 911 Turbo doesn't make me respect the car. The only thing I like about it is the rear of the car, and that's it. If we can get a new Acura NSX that looks as good as the original (only with a tastefully modern touch) and handles and goes better than the original, I think we'll all be happy (well, most of us anyway). And hopefully if the car's going to be built to be produced exactly as is for 15 years or so, then I hope they at least have enough common-sense to put a cabin in there's modern and classy to begin with and won't go out of style so quickly....

I wish they would bury this concept... I agree with GeeDougg, it is 'all over the place'. The hard edges of this design with the random kinks and sudden bends might as well be a new Toyota Matrix. If they are going to delay this car, they should plan on bringing to market a design with the elegant simplicity that makes the original NSX so timeless to this day. And yes... it could be worse, but that does not make the idea of launchin a second rate super car a good idea. I too agree that at V10 is a waste when we can do so much with v8 these days. The only job I see for this design is the next generation Pontiac Firebird featured in the new Knight Rider film... (sadly that role is going to a lame Ford Mustang)... if they had this car it would look related to the original Pontiac, and have the right edginess to hark back to the rocking '80s, big hair and all. What is Honda to do? Go wild! This restrained, slab sided design is so underwhelming, and in silver no less. In a pearl white color it might have looked more engaging but from any angle it lacks visual cohesion. Just think back to when the G35 was a concept... it was in a pearl silver color, and it spoke a unified form language from any angle... a feat not mastered by the 2nd gen G35 IMO. I am hopeful about the future of the NSX, not because of this car, but because the competition is strong and ready... and I think Honda knows it can't come to the yard unless it is ready to win, completely.

I appreciate the feedback GeeDougg! I feel the same way about the V10 bandwagon that everyone is jumping on. My main complaint is that this design doesn't stir up the same emotion as the previous NSX.

i actually think they should ditch the v10 and put a flat 6 with vtec control in pushing out round 450 hp. couple that with mid engine and rear wheel drive and it'll be a formidable supercar.

I wish honda make a new nsx,this shap is too bad,its not like the old nsx sport shap,and it was realy nice,i hop honda makes a new super sport body for the nsx to be with the super sports cars in the world.

the new gt-r, while an amazing performer so far, is out-dated in looks already. the 300z was more timeless. at least it follows where the last Skyline left off. this new NSX concept does no justice to much-loved 15+ year old NSX. front engine? V-10? the design is awful. this isn't the honda i know and love.

I think honda should make the nsx awd, mid engine and turbo. The toyota/lexus concept looks much better.

Well i think there is a reason why the GT-R is so conservative and cheap. They had to get lots of people to buy it and start a reputation in North America, it couldnt be too radical in design and price. Once it becomes an established name the next generation will be more expensive and radical in design.

I think this concept is awesome.

Nothing wrong with the older version. Honda/Acura should look at keeping some of those nice lines and do more of an update rather than an entirely new one. Please don't call this one the New NSX.

first generation NSX is purely amazing, pure control, spacious cabin, finely built midship. i agree with all who are let down with the idea of increasing engine size and combustion chambers, and the design is horrible. but they have a good year and a half to get things right.
