The top of the grill looks like a Mercedes, side looks like a combination of BMW and Lexus, and the roof resembles an Audi. The engine looks like a Mercedes too. lol. Good job, another copycat car from Asia. I am not racist, I am Asian, so I have every right to say bad things about ourselves.

Surely Korea is full of talented designers- are they all working for Western and Japanese companies... I reckon I could do better than that

It already looks exactly like a Mercedes... OH wow look at the engine it is a mercedes

The Koreans are like Sweden. While the Japanese is like Germany. SsangYong is like a Volvo while Genesis is like Saab.

well what do expect from Ssangyong? its not rocket science is it? of course its a mercedes lookalike besides they did it deliberately, what do expect from a carmaker (Ssangyong) that have strong history of Mercedes-Benz linkage since 1991 and plus entitled to Mercedes designs. Besides I seen worst copycat than this (way worse) just look at the Shuanghuan CEO SUV. Besides I'll be happy to settle with this new Chairman W compaired to the overdesigned grill of Hyundai Genesis. It does look nice once it comes out of its shadows.
Now I'll duck and cover and await fire.

Did they mean "We?ve thoroughly COPIED the Lexus LS430, Audi?s A8, BMW?s 750 and other potential competitors"?
Oh and at least they could have named Mercedes, instead of "others"...

Does anybody actually care if Hyundai based the Genesis design on Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, and Audi elements? Seriously, is this going to impact anyone's every day life? Probably not, so what's wrong with a company trying to get its foot into the luxury-class door by using the best elements of some of the most well respected car companies? At least they'll be starting with a good base, and if they happen establish that they have the ability to produce a relatively nice luxury car then who knows maybe Hyundai will start stepping up and producing original designs, but for now I think this is a smart move on Hyundai's part. Trying something radical is a big risk for a still-developing company.

elsonlau.i think you dont know sh** about Sweden automotive..Volvo and Saab have strong designs, very european style, they dont copy from any others, their cars come up with own images, people can tell you exactly which one is a sweden car among thousand cars on the road, they are amazing with safety issues, how did you compare Korean car = Sweden car, dont be stupid, when you want to say something, you must know about it first

Pudding...
What do you mean by 'does anyone care if hyundai copy Mercedes-Benz'
Yeah, people do care, like me who are quality people, who know what to like.
Hyundai - they are have just proved that they are a copy of Mercedes-Benz - they way they copied on the symbol and grill + engine, i will never forget that copy. JUST SHOCKING!!! - Some budget brand company trying to compete with (lets not say Mercedes-Benz because they are too good for hyundai)the bmw 7-series!!! What a joke. I woud award it joke of the year!!!

Also, hyundai have copied Mercedes-Benz i their previous range of models - I am proud in a way for hyundai and companies like them (bmw, audi, lexus and etc...) because they are copying Mercedes-Benz, I am so proud.

Hey, Mercedes-Benz, you're not better than Hyundai. You're even copying your name...

Hmm after further looking into this brand it seems like Mercedes is brilliant. Take old overstocked parts and disguise them as another brand. Smart i must admit. Of course they had to make this car look like an e-class they had to fit in the engine, doors, windows, headlights. How else can you fit those in without having somewhat the same design as the original car.
