Ugly in white

Camaro5 forum reader NVMY68SS posted the attached image yesterday, a day after the Camaro was spotted in Australia during testing. Even though the image quality is rather low, it does speak more than a thousand words. Camaro fans on the forum all agree that this prototype looks the part (besides the colour) and are expecting more images to surface.

The thin, futuristic side mirrors have made room for what look like temporary side mirrors, while the rear fender has lost its air vents. The prototype also shows a B-pillar, which was not there on the concept while the belt-line has been softened a great deal from the concept's hard lines.

The wheels look like they belong so it seems only too likely that this prototype is as production-ready as we're going to see before its public debut.

I think of all the muscle car revivals the camaro is the ugliest. My fav is the Challenger followed by the mustang, this is just so ugly. It has no lines, soo bland.

You call the Camaro bland but your favorite is the Challenger? The Challenger looks like they dug up a time capsule and this rolled out. Give me a break. I think the white paint is throwing everyone off. I think when the production version finally comes out, it will be very similar to the concept.

I hope the Camaro make it just in time to make a debut in the new Knight Rider series as KARR.

Disappointing, the production vehicle has deleted or softened too much, two dynamic lines. The hard edge that ran horizontally, mid way up, the side is almost gone, and the A pillar has been softened too much. I still like it but it has just lost some character and conformed to the clunky America style

Yeah, it just looks flat. Sad to see it lost the passion that the concept had.

Well that's a shame! I was going to order the SS model with the LS2, but if it's going to be all soft and rounded, I think I'll put my money somewhere else! I loved the sharped-edged proto-type (in bumblebee mica of course). Can't say the same for this soft and bland mule I see before me!

The more I look at the picture the more I see the cut lines. I'm hoping the poor quality of the photo, white color and poor lighting is hiding the true detail. I got to see the concept up close at the Chicago auto show and it is beautiful. I wasn't crazy about the interior but that's just me as I'm not crazy about old-car interiors. BTW, the interior in the Mustang leaves me feeling the same way. After the concept was first unveiled I recall their being some question as to whether or not the concept could actually be built due to the requirement for modern crumple zones. It looks like the wheels aren't pushed out to the corners quite as far as the concept version which I do think detracts a bit. I'll leave my final judgement for a better picture.
