Schumacher Commandeers Taxi

 Schumacher Commandeers Taxi
Schumacher's entreprenurial venture

We at WorldCarFans certainly know the stress of running late for a flight and having a cab driver at the helm who slams on his brakes for every yellow light.  A similar situation is apparently no problem for former Formula One star Michael Schumacher.

Over the weekend, Schumacher took over the wheel of his taxi when he was perilously close to missing his plane, according to news wire Agence France-Presse.  Schumacher was in Gehuelz, Germany, with his wife and two children to pick up a new Australian Shepherd puppy named Ed.

Needing to get to the airport in Coburg as quickly as possible, Schumacher asked the taxi driver to let the F1 champ take control.  Driver Tuncer Yilmaz relented, and looked on in stunned silence from the passenger seat of his own taxi as Schumacher flashed back to his racing days.

"I found myself in the passenger seat, which was strange enough, but to have 'Schumi' behind the wheel of my cab was incredible," Mr Yilmaz told a local newspaper.

"He drove at full throttle around the corners and over-took in some unbelievable places."

Although there is no word on if the Schumachers caught their flight, Schumi did take care of Yiilmaz, giving him 100 Euros over the 60 Euro fare.

Schumaher's spokesperson confirmed the story for AFP.

Just to show you how STUPID he really is, has his kids with him and not a care in the world for their saftey or for others on the road. Where's the police while he was speeding, oh wait in the nearest donut store or strip club.

And he faked crying when he beat Senna's record... there are videos all over YouTube of it...plus, you can see Mika Hakkenen laughing because he knows Schumacher is faking because he was on the podium watching Schumacher laugh and celebrate his win when everyone knew Senna was dead.

Donut shops in germany?? Strip club?? those are a waste of time when you can get 2 hot 18 year old russians at the puff for 50euros. The cab was probably a mercedes and i'm sure Schumacher drove with care as he got to his destination alive and well. I would have done the same thing as him, do u really want a puppy waiting in the airport, plus his kids were probably whining.

dmanero... The taxi driver didn't say he was speeding, just taking corners at full throttle. I find myself overtaking cars all the time without speeding; some drivers, yourself probably included, are just plain f'in slow. And, as 'Roger' stated, this is a man widely regarded as one of the greatest ever racing drivers. He is used to driving through traffic at 200mph let alone 40. In the same light, I am used to overtaking cars on a freeway at 70mph. I do not believe my negotiating traffic at a fifth of that speed is tantamount means I have no regard for their safety!

I think, just off the taxi point, what happened to Schumacher in 1993 happened to Alonso in 2005: An older, established, favourite driver, got upset by a very very quick younger guy who was showing him the ropes. Senna admitted that at times he woud try and intimidate Schumacher so that the boy would make mistakes on the track. That is part of racing. Schumacher would do the same to Jacques as well as Alonso. Big deal? I think not. And if you drove like Senna did, at some point you will have a major major off. Hamilton should take heed as well.

Didn't we just see the Top Gear interview with Lewis Hamilton? Didn't we see him thrash a econobox in record time around a track, so effortlessly, he was singing songs to himself? Do you really think the 7 time F1 world champion is even going to break a sweat in that cab? The taxi driver should pay him for the amusement park-style ride. dmanero is a moron, whose idea of racing is probably Nascar.
