hahaha 40 miles. Way to kill the electric car Chevy. How a company with such a big budget can come up with so inferior of a car to the Tesla roadster is beyond me. Heck its a sports car and it gets 245 miles to the charge.

The Tesla was built by a division of GM, the company that owns Chevrolet.

40 miles is pretty shitty... even for an electric car... if a sports car version created by GM themselves can go over 245 miles to the charge... why don't they put that in this car?? or maybe a scaled down version lets say 100 miles to the charge to make the car cheaper than the tesla???

I am pretty sure Tesla is still a private company, it has ties to Lotus, but that doesn't mean they are owned by them.

can you drive a tesla daily? i think tesla is still " concept " rather than a full production car...volt will become a mass production car,,

It's a production car, so you can drive it daily. Also since it has fewer moving parts it is more reliable and more suitable to be a daily driver.

Not a single Tesla automobile has been delivered to a customer; they are still in development, not in production. The company has recently pushed back their production date due to problems with battery development. Yes the Tesla is cool and kudos to the visionaries at Tesla for bringing us such a cool automoble with a unique drivetrain. Unfortunately a vehicle that only carries two people in a tiny package at a price of $100,000.00+ isn't going to make a dent in our petroleum dependence or substantially help our environment. It will at best provide celebrities with something that makes them look eco-friendly and cool at the same time. At least the technology is a step in the right direction.
For the record, the chassis and body is built by Lotus while the drivetrain is developed by Tesla.
Why anyone would talk GM down for developing the Volt makes absolutely no sense. I'm sorry it's just stupid. GM isn't the first company to develop a hybrid. Take a look at Honda - the Insight and Accord hybrids were both sales failures. Toyota's Hylander hybrid is a joke - $38,000+ for a tiny SUV that doesn't hardly get better mileage than the gas version of the same vehicle or any better than its gas-powered competitors! In fact, the Prius is the only electric anything with four wheels that to date has been a sales success. I say kudos to GM (as well as Honda and Toyota for that matter) for trying to further the technology to the point that the average citizen can afford a fuel efficient vehicle that is easier on the environment while having real-world usability. The way I look at it if you are going to talk down GM you may as well be talking down the others as well. GM is currently putting more resources into the Volt than it put into the Z06 Corvette. The Corvette is definitely an overachiever for the price point it sells at and if GM is able to bring that same success to the Volt it should prove to be a very good vehicle for its intended purpose.
