Rendered Speculation: BMW 8 Series

The Mercedes CLS four door coupe is currently fighting a solo battle with no competition - but now is the time for Daimler to be looking over their shoulders. Preparation is well under way by their German competitors with the Audi A7, Volkswagen Passat Coupe, Porsche Panamera and now we bring you an artists interpretation of the BMW four door coupe which will probably be badged as the 8 series.

The All New BMW 8 series styling will be based on the CS concept with the platform to come from the 7 series or even possibly the 6 series.

The original 8 series was produced between 1989 and 1999 and was powered by a V8 and a V12 engine. We expect this trend to continue with the new model set to use the 438hp 6.0-liter V-12 engine  from the 760i and 4.8-liter V8 from the 750i.

yep no question about it. very beautiful indeed. its more resolved than the merc cls, without the "me too" approach in its design. i like it alot. not convinced by the grille though... but otherwise very slick.

What a joke. It bares absolutely no resemblance to the CS Concept and looks like a poor Lancia copy.

As I said, let's hope Adrian Van Hooydonk, BMW Designer, create the best lines for 8 Series.

Thing that makes me laugh is you've gone to the effort to get the Hoffmeister kink in but you've fallen short with the 'L' shaped lights at the back. In fact they're not even present. I really doubt BMW will make their grill so small on a so called halo car as well.

Love the design, threatening but still elegant. Great job on the rendering, but anyone notice there's no driver, yet the car is in motion.

Although BMW rose from its dark ages of design by this elegant 8-series,but,theres a great resemblance to merc cls specially from the side.

If they made an 8 series it would be something between the 7 series and the Maybach not between the 5 and 7 series. That spot is reserved for the CS. to me this looks like an extended 3 series.

That's such an ugly rendering. The body lines are nearly identical to those of the 3 series. The grille looks weird and the side profile is too fat. The CS concept was much better. Enough with these porrly done renderings.

I thought this rendering is a joke...the back is like the ugliest part of the car...the grille at the front is just small enough why don't they just not make one at all...

WCF photoshops never look anything like the prototype nor the real thing so I wouldn't count on it.

8series shud run against the mercedes cl not cls.... the cs should be in between the 7-8 not the 5-7

Actually, I have it on very good word that this thing is the CS Concept we saw in China. It will be quite different in looks of course, but that is essentially the 4-door coupe that BMW is building.

If there is a race to make the car look less and less appealing from a traditional 'beemer' look, then BMW AG is heading in the right direction! But then again, all beemers will eventually look like they were designed in a 'rice' factory!
