It has been rumoured Audi have been working on a diesel engined version of the TT coupe, and now for the first time we have photographic evidence to confirm these rumours are true. Likely to be badged as the Audi TT TDi, this test car was caught in northern Sweden and fortunately our spy was able to get a shot of the interior complete with a warning sticker saying Achtung diesel-Fzg (Attention diesel version) .

The TT TDi will use Volkswagen's 168bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel which we have already seen in the Audi A4 and VW Tiguan, we should see it launched sometime in 2008.

If I have to choose diesel or petrol I'll take diesel version because is more economic and has more torque.

This is nonsense.

This is not wrong, but not true too.

if it has good filters it's cool, but older diesels not run on biodiesel have nasty stuff coming out the tailpipe...

it will be a Bluetec diesel, if Audi wants to sell the TT diesel in the US. Bluetec meets the stringent Bin-5 standard, and it will be 50 state-compliant.

Where have you seen the word bluetec?

The 3.0 TDI does 0 - 60 in 6.2 sec. doesnt look gay to me. BMW's 335d beats the crap out of many good petrol engines including Cayman's boxter engine. Diesel it's more economic and uses less oil in its production. the torque in diesel engines sometimes compensate the minor horsepower. Anyway American cars use the same (or less) CC per horsepower than europeans use in their diesel engines. lolol (6 liter V8s with 300 bhp and stuff like that). if u wana start doing something useful to stop oil consuption start usig diesel.

Still, it has been proved that the 3.0 TDI accelerations were not as optimistic as Audi announced them. And the 335d has never beaten any Porsche o_O Oh yes, I forgot the 30 to 60 kph in 6th gear... yeah even the Cayman is completely beat off in that exercise ....

And to add to that. Who's dominating Le Mans right now? Is it an Audi R10 with a diesel? SO NO...diesels don't suck anymore.

Wow... really, I wouldn't have thought there would be so many people believing the winning of the R10 TDI was a real performance... Open your eyes!! The LeMans rules clearly favorite diesel cars and it's no suprise that Audi and Peugeot won the race! Our only hope, we car lovers, was a flaw in the reliability of the HDi...

"diesel is cheaper anyway" ...

hmz? look at germany. the dieselprize is exploding cuz more people, especially in the us, buy dieselcars so also dieseljuice. one liter diesel ~ 1.35?; one liter petrol ~ 1.40? (a half year before: diesel 1.10? / petrol 1.30?). and this is reality not only in ger but in more eu countries.

and you guys don´t think that diesel will not become more expensive - all over the world?!? don´t know exactly how it is in the us with assurance and tax; in germany dieselcars are always more expensive as petrolcars. now additional the dieselprize is exploding, peoples buy more petrolcars and a lot of tuners offer new eco-tuning for petrol.. freaky

Diesel is cheaper, but it gives no driving pleasure at all. I prefer a fine tuned high rpm engine over a torquey and frugal one. I don't find this engine adequate for this model, however marketing and sales figures is what rule today and I bet that this model will outsell the gasoline versions

No driving pleasure at all? When was the last time you drove a diesel and what condition was it in? I personally drive a VW Jetta TDI on which i have done minor tuning (german injectors, german ECU and a new clutch to handle the power) and I now have a very VERY fun car to drive for less than a 1000$ extra! Plus, when I'm on the highway, I'm at around 5L/100km thats about what my sister's Yaris consumes in the best situations! The truth is, Diesel engines are about 30% more efficient than Gasoline engines but have always been seen is North America as slow because they where tuned for absolute efficiency... Get your head out of that turtle shell and see what is happening elsewhere in the world! You'd be surprised!

If you are able to find some fun in a Jetta TDi, then you should try a TT 3.2 V6 FSi. You'd be surprised! Anywhere in the dieselized world we agree diesel still suck confronted to a good gasoline engine.

Speaking of morons, lelu, What car do you drive?

lelu
December 8, 2007 7:50 PM
Certainly not a diesel car that destroy all the sportscar image of an icon, under the pretext of owning a cheaper car. It will surely be more expensive than the TFSi and for so much less pleasure ; that's all.

Yep, I wish Americans would buy loaads of diesel cars so that diesel prices increase dramatically S2
