Two initial showrooms

Aston Martin is going through plenty of changes this year, starting with Ford selling the brand and the recent announcement that production of the new Aston Martin Rapide may move outside of the UK. Today we received word that Aston Martin will open two showrooms in China, a USD 6 billion dollar luxury market in 2004, with the local help of GruppeM led by CEO Kenny Chen.

Dr Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin’s Chief Executive Officer: “It was vital that we found the right partner who not only understood Aston Martin’s brand values but also the luxury market.”

Kenny Chen, GruppeM CEO: “I have always had a passion for the brand which, combined with our knowledge of the luxury automobile market, will enable us to bring a very personal touch to the business.”

Initially Aston Martin will enter the Chinese market with two showrooms, one in Shanghai accomodating 5 cars and one in Bejing which can display three cars. Both showrooms will be accompanied with service points.

Aston Martin is ready for moving into the 29th market partly because of James Bond. The fictional secret agent 007 drove the new Aston Martin DBS in the 21st Bond movie, Casino Royale, which happened to be the first Bond movie to be released in the People's Republic of China, boosting awareness of the brand in the country.

how did the saying go again... if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all?

Yes I think that's the one.

Okay, I try it... It is good to see that, 62 years after Holocaust, you still can get rich with slavery. Congratulations, Chinese! And that you can do any mistake or crime, the world doesn't care if you have an h-bomb in your arsenal... hail Mao!

Hey Harajoshi, please stay on topic as the rules state. You are free to criticize but please make it constructive. And no, this is not a British web site.

think its brilliant this move. with the formula 1 in china, people might start going into sports and if they should study motorsports history they will find the name aston martin somewhere in there not to mention the james bond afficionados. clever.

Aston Martin should do very well in China. Despite communism, there are loads of wealthy people that will no doubt want to be the first ones to pick up Bond’s ride.

FYI the rich people in china that wanted an aston already got one, same with ferrari, pagani, lambo, carrera gt. They are the largest exporter in the world what makes you think they cant import a few cars?? Hell i wouldnt be surprised if half of the stolen luxury cars from europe were on chinese roads. Just remember there are almost 2billion of them, even if 1% of them are rich that still means there are 20,000,000 rich ppl there, id like to see any other country compete with that figure.

It's the communists are buying these toys, not just the rich.

Oh and sorry for double post, but another thing is that the chinese population is about 1,2 billion and not 2 billion... But of course thats still a huge number and i hate thinking of what will happen to the west if they cach up with our engineers and scientists :(
