Compared to the previous generation E46 M3, BMW is moving away from a convertible soft top, and instead using a three-piece retractable metal top. Since these latest shots capture the same test car we caught a year ago in the same location, Northern Sweden, wearing the same license plates and body camouflage, we suspect development of the CC may have been delayed causing engineers to return to Lapland for further testing. As a result, we believe the M3 sedan's launch, originally planned for Geneva 2008, was moved up to Tokyo, which took place last month, and now we can expect the M3 CC to debut in Geneva. No big deal for BMW, besides the fact that they missed the opportunity to launch the M3 Coupe Convertible in sunny southern California at this past Los Angeles Auto Show for its North American debut. Will they wait another year to do so or will the spring time in Europe suffice?

I guess the cc regime is now in full effect since BMW has also adopted it. It worked for the 335i so why not

If you want the driving machine, you don't buy the M3 convertible you buy the coupe. But if you want a good car with a drop roof you can't go wrong really. There is a market for this car.

Great car this would be. Massive power, responsive and agile handling. Add to that wind in your hair, great soundtrack from the exhaust pipes and when you ride hard you really have a gokart-like feeling in this car. Yes, CC would be slower on the track than the Coupe, but when it comes to the fun, coupe cabrio is so much better.

I have to add: with the roof up, M power sport buttonj off, it becomes quite and comfy. So what more do you need? It's a racing machine that with a single ("M") button can become a car comfy and spacious enough to use it everyday. What more do we need? :)

BMW aced it with this new top, other than the trunk opening differently and a few extra seems on the roof you cant tell its a convertible. Trully an extraodinary car in all varians, coupe, convertible coupe, sedan, and saloon(not so much).
