I wonder if this corvette will even be able to crack the 7:40 mark on nordschleife. They couldnt crack the mark with 505 horsepower.

The Z06's 7:42 was from a standing start, all faster times from production cars such as the GTR (7:38) had befitted from a flying start down the pit straight (>160kph).

thats why ur ferrari is saying der i've got one more cam then the vette and it still spanks me... pushrod engines are very efficient this is far from the engine 50 years ago this is a 4th gen pushrod engine funny thing is alot of supercar makers that don't make their own engines often turn to these for power koenigsegg ftw

The M3 CSL had a flying start AND comes on R-compound racing (cheater) tires - buyers are required to sign a waiver promising to never drive in the rain before taking delivery of the CSL. Clearly, it's impossible to directly compare Nurburgring times between between cars on different days, in different weather, on different tires, and different starting standards (stand-still vs flying).

For some reason im doubting the 650hp figure. I have a feeling its going to be more in the high 500-600 figure. As to Drag's response i dont think Koenigsegg ever had a Chevy engine or ford. They now manufacture their own engine and before i believe it was a Volvo Marine heavily modified engine.

sorry, Rad your wrong again. All previous Koenigsegg's used a modular Ford V8. The current Koenigsegg CCX engine was designed by Koenigsegg based on the Ford Modular engine architecture is assembled for them by Grainger & Worrall.

Actually they orginially used a 4.6 L V8 Modular Ford engine in the Koenigsegg CCR.

Yeah it had a dual overhead cam engine made by lotus and they made a very few of them and they ended up offering original owners a lifetime warranty on the engine alone b/c it was high maintance and parts were too expensive... and yeah koenigsegg didn't use a modular ford they used a chevy engine

Koenigsegg CCR used a Supercharged 4.7 L Ford ModularV8. The predecessor Koenigsegg CC8S used a Supercharged 4.6 L Ford Modular engine V8. The current Koenigsegg CCX engine of the was designed by Koenigsegg based on the Ford Modular engine architecture.

I would take that engine any day if someone would supply the gas for it.

I have a 2007 Zo6 (7-liter, 505 RWHP) and it gets 28+ MPG on the highway at 70 mph. I have friends that claim 30+ mpg highway in their Z's. There's no reason to believe that this 6.2-liter engine in a lighter chassis won't get substantially better mileage.

The ZR1 is actually about 300lbs heavier than the Z06, not lighter as somebody previously stated, and Chevy is claiming 625+ horsepower, not 650.

Oh, and they are also claiming that it will be able will be able to take the production-car track record at any racetrack.

No! the new ZR1 is over 300lbs LIGHTER than the Z06! GM took alot of sheet metal off of the body and replaced them with carbon fiber panels. not to mention the minimal STEEL that is used on the car was replaced with a much lighter and stronger metal composite!
