For presentation to international television networks, Lamborghini thought it would be fitting to do the same as the blokes at Top Gear and race their aeronautically inspired Reventon against a A200-A Tornado. The event took place at the Ghedi military airport in Brescia Italy and predictably saw the Reventon initially take the lead, but was then quickly overtaken by the tornado in the last few meters of the 3000 m long runway.

With a price tag of 1 million euros, only 20 Reventons will be produced. Naturally, all 20 are already reserved for friends and collectors close to Lamborghini and they will be delivered in 2008.

Lamborghini Reventon Takes on a Tornado

The Ghedi (Brescia) military airport was the setting this week for an extraordinary acceleration race between a Tornado aircraft [A200-A] provided by the airbase, and the Lamborghini Reventón driven by an official Lamborghini test driver.

The fighter pilot and the Lamborghini test driver challenged each other on the 3000 m-long runway.

The Reventón took the lead in the first leg of the race, but the Tornado caught up in the last few metres, taking off and flying over the Reventón that was going at a speed of over 340 km/h.

The Ghedi military base was chosen as the venue at which to present the Lamborghini super car to international TV networks. The ideal environment in which to emphasise the Reventón’s aeronautic styling, the airbase was made available to Lamborghini by General Carlo Landi of the Fifth Department of the Stato Maggiore dell A.M, and Colonel Aurelio of the Sixth Formation.

The Reventón’s design – entirely designed by the Centro Stile Lamborghini and perfected down to the finest detail in close collaboration with Lamborghini’s R and D management - drew its inspiration from the world’s fastest aircraft in modern aviation. It is from this heritage that the Reventón has drawn its extremely precise, technically impressive style with sharp edges, exact lines and clean surfaces, along with its exclusive new matte grey-green exterior colour.

There are only 20 Reventón cars available, each with a price tag of 1 million euros plus taxes. All are already sold and will be built and delivered in 2008.

The Lamborghini Reventón, officially presented to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, also won the “Most Beautiful Automobile in the World 2007” award this month in the special models category, and is destined to become a new legend in the fascinating history of the House of the Raging Bull.

hahaha. . . get real , LAMBORGHINI . your oversized gas-guzzler with straitjacket-like passenger/driver ergonomics couln't possibly take flight , and the whole world knows about it. this is clearly an act of utter desperation from Ferruccio's camp and would certainly be better off if it showed the Reventon taking the flag at LeMans or at the Paris/Dakar rally many times over.

and while you're at it , Lambo , it may render some poetic justice to your hoopla-fuelled advert to employ a current-generation F-22 Raptor instead of an aging ,Panavia Tornado .

lol but that car is lame!!!! must handle like a sack of dog crap! looks terribe too! not to mention the onlyl reason its faster than the veyron is that they pulled the gearbox out of the first version and made the final gear heaps taller so it would get a few extra km/h. thats kinda sad/petty/pathetic/lame if you ask me. But it is the fastest... dam statistics!

Sick car, but in my opinion too overpriced for a body kit and lcd screen. I would buy the LP-640 and a 1million $ house instead of this and still have $ left in my wallet. But lets face it this car wasnt built for car enthusiasts it was built for rich ppl that want to show off that they have 1 of 25.

Ahahah yeah that would have to be a massive car to be powered by an A380 turbine, you can walk through the first row of blading thats how big it is. But i would assume that a fighter jet engine is faster, the A380 turbines arent high velocity turbines they are made for massive torque to get that cow moving. If you want massive speed and torque get the turbines from the Concorde
