it a mish mash of styles this lincoln. theres the honda accord type headlights, a lexus gs profile, with a horrendously over the top use of chrome aft of the faceless C pillar and a rear that pays homage to the kia rio believe it or not. a disapointment, especially from lincoln......

Don't forget the forthcoming Vectra replacement- I see shades of that in this. Previous LIncolns (post 1980) have looked good have they?

It is a step in the right direction to improve quality however design is another issue. The water fall grill looses something when it is split. The front actually as the likes of the 07' GTO (which is not good). Would have like to see more lines and the front pull up and flattened. Lincoln needs to do more finished detail before they can ever compete with others in their class

ART SCHOOL OF DESIGN PASADENA , CALIFORNIA. Premiere American institution in the field of industrial art and design with distinguished graduates like Grant Larson ( Porsche Boxster prototype and Carerra GT designer ) as well as Chris Bangle ( ex-BMW Group Chief of Design ) ARE AMERICANS AND NOT GERMANS ! From the current state of events happening in the American automobile industry , one would readily surmise that US car manufacturers are either not paying enough money in order to attract its local design geniuses , OR , the aspiration to build excellent cars in America like it was during the 50s-60s-and the 70s , had simply dried up.

the Solstice is pretty. There are some great american designers but the indusrty seems to demad over-styling and is obsessed way too much with chunky SUVs

They keep coming with designs like this and wonder why their sales are struggling?

Actually, this design seems to show how much improvement American car manufacturers are making. It is true that the front does resemble the Lexus LS a bit but this is really one of the best looking cars i've seen from Lincoln.

But turbocharged V6 with 400 hp (read the L.A. auto show article blurb about this car)? I don't think thats a good idea. I'd rather go for a natrually aspirated or even supecharged v8. Seriously this car isn't even meant for performance so whats the point of having turbo lag on a luxury sedan. That just seems to be some sudden idea to be 'unique'. But unique isn't always a good thing, especially for american companies just getting back to their feet.

It's the best looking Lincoln in decades. I think Lincoln(Ford) is stealing a page from BMW's playbook with the turbocharged 6 rather than an 8 cylinder...I don't hear anyone complaining about BMW'x twin turbo 3.0 liter six and turbo lag is nonexistent...it gives you V8 performance with the gas consumption of a V6...besides this can't be the top dog Lincoln...they have to have plans for a larger sedan with a V8 as the top of the range model.

..I see more of the new Jag XF in the side view rather than lexus...and they took the taillights from the Maserati Quattroporte.

it a mish mash of styles this lincoln. not comparing this to any model in particular but looking at the main pic I would say it looks like one of those chinese cars. It really does look chinese. Copy a little bit from everyone and call it a car. sooo ugly!!! Typical of Lincoln though. This is why theyre cars cost less then benz or BMW but still SELL LESS

this will be a great car if it is RWD! The Australia Falcon RWD is arriving in 2010. Guess we would have to wait until then!

It looks as though Lincoln designers tried too hard to cram all of the show-car features of this car onto a shorter production wheel-base, resulting in a somewhat dumpy looking vehicle (the roofline is too tall, the rear wheels not back far enough). The production version is ungainly taller than the show-car as well resulting in a not very well balanced design. Cadillac continues to look much better(!).

Lincoln missed the target. Although this attempt is much better than previous attempts, competition in the entry level lux game is just too good. Even if Lincoln offered this car for 3K to 5K below a 335i, CTS or G35 the fact its fwd excludes the true "drivers". We'll take a base 335i every time!

Nice, although Lincoln should reduce the front end overhang for a sportier profile.
