Yesterday we all thought the F1 season had been completed when Kimi Raikkonen took the chequered flag in Brazil taking the drivers championship in the process, but McLaren have other ideas.
In yet another twist BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld as well as Williams driver Nico Rosberg were found to be in breach of technical regulations regarding fuel temperatures. Given that they finished 4th, 5th and 6th respectively this could possibly lift Hamilton up and thus send the drivers championship title hurtling back in favour of the British rookie sensation.
It is understood the fuel temperature issue - specifically fuel that has been cooled - can give a car extra horsepower advantage, and so is a clear breach of the rules. However following a 3 hour meeting the Brazilian Grand Prix stewards decided against imposing any penalties against BMW or Sauber or their respective drivers.
Now McLaren have notified F1's FIA governing body they will be appealing the stewards decision.
Everyone here at WCF is in full agreement this is a pointless step to take and is unlikely to come to any positive conclusion for McLaren - even Alonso was quoted on Spanish radio saying "If he (Hamilton) wins the championship due to this, it wouldn't be fair and I would be embarrassed for this sport."
