With the market launch of the Mercedes C 63 AMG not due until early 2008 in Europe and spring in the U.S., spy photographers have now caught the super sedan just outside the Nürburgring today in Pace Car guise. Besides the obvious lighting package on the roof and back glass, the C 63 is showing a completely revised front bumper fascia with enormous air intakes and carbon fiber strips on the bottom splitter in addition to the charcoal gray multi-spoke wheels and upgraded brakes.
According to the spy photographer, this C 63 was significantly louder than a road going version which suggests the absence of rear silencers or possibly a power increase. "When idling, the sound was a deep roar but when accelerating it was painfully loud."
The C 63 AMG will be the Pace Car for the DTM (German Touring Car Championships) final held at the Hockenheimring race circuit in Germany next weekend, October 12 - 14.
