With the introduction of the 3-series Coupe, Convertible and M3 in the past year - BMW's standard four-door E90 Sedan has been on the market for nearly three years since its unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005, and it's about to get a mid-product cycle facelift.

Our spy photographers spotted this black E90 with a disguised grille and bonnet and concealed tail lights lapping Nurburgring yesterday. In usual BMW facelift fashion, expect new headlights with accentuated "light rings" a.k.a. 'angel eyes,' a new range of fuel-efficient engines as well as a reworked interior. In June 2007, BMW announced its action-packed formula for reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, the launch of an all-new 204 bhp four-cylinder diesel engine with Variable Twin Turbo technology, and we anticipate this "138g CO per km" air purifier to be placed under the bonnet of the facelifted E90 Sedan and E91 Touring early next year.

Furthermore, the disguised front grille and tail lights indicate that there will be some modifications in the rear end, possibly LED lights, as well as a revised and heightened engine hood with a wider front grille. The facelifted BMW 3-series Sedan and Touring will appear at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2007. Stay tuned for more details! More pictures on the right!

good job? are you for real? this car sucks. its overated in terms of design and style. the rear end is the clumsiest piece of fashioning ever. how they sell in their thousands is beyond me..... lexus IS is far more sophisticated looking, not forgetting Infiniti's gorgeous G37. German cars are so plain.

ur pretty dumb. its the best in its class. rear end gets a refreshing look. clumsy? haha..im pretty sure u put your god damn eyes at your a$$. lexus sophisticated design? LOL, sophisticated in trying to copy german design that is. lexus is stupid with its copycat design and often gets 'boring' and outdated even before a year.

its pity u have such a bad taste when comes to cars ;)

Is this facelift going to be an 08 or 09 model?

::: SM335: It'll have to be an '09 model year if production starts in March. BMW did the same thing with the E60 5-series facelift earlier this year, when production of the 2008 model year started in late March 2007. I know we've seen a few spy pictures of a possible "3-series facelift" before but the timing of the release for Geneva 2007 seems to make sense.

I was hoping they would have changed the headlights to those on the E92/E93

Haha, I'm laughing at the comments on this thread and lack of maturity in the posts. Carry on!

One tip, a car that sells by the thousands doesn't mean it's a great car, example, a mustang, come on! BMW are great cars, but the majority of the people who buy them are clueless about them and only after the marque just like benz or any top luxury manufacturer. But some of you probably already know that, right?

First look at the back and I thought this was a VW Jetta. http://www.carsmithmotors.com/test/pics/back_side_jetta.sized%5B1%5D.jpg

Bangle's screwing up again. I am not surprised.

well, ferrariguy... probably u should alter ur tips to 'a car that sells thousands doesnt OFTEN mean its a great car' because mustang doesnt sell well in other countries. and ppl buying BMWs because of facts that it is undeniably a great car. well this is not a stone age where ppl who buys cars are clueless. consumers like us r getting smart nowadays and will demand more than what we have now. so clueless is not the right word to describe car-buyers today.

Ballisticafr: I think you have made a very good choice. How is the engine, I am very curious, I've never driven a turbocharged BMW engine. Regarding the design, it's not the best looking 3 series ever, but the technology in the car and above all the extraordinary engines, make it the best in it's class. There is simply no competition. You all know that, it's just hard to recognize.

The 3 Series is still the most sucessful model in the history of BMW.

It's time for BMW to give a nose job to the 3 series sedan.

For some reason, BMW designers indented the middle of the 3's nose, which is weird b/c you usually flex out the center of the car's nose to emphasize its power.

Also, there are weird character lines that fall vertically in the center of the car's front bumper, descending in a line from the outer edges of the vertical bars of the kidney grille.

These character lines resembe catfish whiskers, hardly a sporty image.

I hope BMW incorporates LED lighting in the taillights and headlights too.

Once you've opened up the engine on the part of the Autobahn with no speed limit, you don't even think about what the car looks like. The driving experience is that good!!
