It really is an impressive result for such a small car! Although Fiat said in its press release that the 500 was the first car in its size to achieve the five-star rating, it's worth noting that the new new Mini (2007) has also been awarded five stars! Nonetheless, Kia has made some quick progress following its two-star result with the Kia Carnival in 2003!

This is not the third Fiat car to be awarded five stars in safety: it's the fifth, following MPV Ulysse, crossover Croma, and then Grande Punto and Bravo. Nice job!
