Renault Frankfurt's "Busiest Manufacturer"
Five New Production Cars and Two Concepts
This year's Frankfurt Motor Show will be a busy fortnight for French car maker Renault as it prepares for the release of five new production models and two concept models on September 10, 2007. Renault has struggled with an out-of-date product range causing sales to dip 4.7% in 2006, as it hasn't launched anything close to spectacular since the chic Mégane II in 2002. This trend is, however, set to change very soon as "Renault's unprecedented product revolution moves into overdrive" this autumn.
The two most anticipated premieres are the Clio Sport Tourer and the new Laguna, which Renault announced in earlier this summer in June. Today Renault has unveiled two teaser images of Renault's Clio Sport Tourer, the first-ever estate version of Renault's best-seller Clio. The 4.2 metre Sport Tourer, boasting a luggage volume of 439 litres is based on the Grand Tour Concept, showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in March earlier this year. It will go on sale in the spring of 2008. The second-generation Laguna will debut in both Hatch and Sport Tourer versions in Frankfurt, with the hatch going on sale in October this year and the Sport Tourer in January 2008.
So, three production models have been confirmed, but the details of the "other newcomers, including a couple of attention-grabbing concept cars, are still being kept firmly under wraps." Stay tuned!
RENAULT SET TO BE THE STAR OF THE SHOW AT
FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW 2007
With no less than seven world premieres at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, including five new production cars and two concepts, Renault will arguably be the busiest manufacturer at this year’s event as its unprecedented product revolution moves into overdrive.
Amongst those production cars making their world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show is the Clio Sport Tourer, which Renault has released exclusive pre-Show pictures of to give a taster of what’s to come in Frankfurt.
Although details of most of the other newcomers are still being kept firmly under wraps, including a couple of attention-grabbing concept cars, the Hatch and Sport Tourer versions of New Laguna will be among those making their first public forays before going on sale in the UK from October and January 2008 respectively.
Joining the key models for Renault Commitment 2009 is this first-ever estate version of Renault’s hot-selling Clio supermini. The new model, Clio Sport Tourer, echoes many of the design cues from those of the Clio Grand Tour Concept, which was unveiled in Geneva earlier this year.
Clio Sport Tourer is firmly focused on leisure pursuits and strikes a perfect balance between sleek design, with its angled rear screen, and spaciousness, with the generous volumes of its luggage area (439 litres). At 4.2 metres in length, it is a compact vehicle that builds on the strengths of Clio III in terms of driving pleasure, interior space, comfort and safety.
Clio Sport Tourer goes on sale in the UK in Spring 2008. Full details will be released nearer launch.
Renault’s President and CEO, Carlos Ghosn, will hold the company’s Press conference on the eve of the show, Monday 10th September, at 17:00 (local time) in the centre of Frankfurt.
