Peugeot 207SW In Depth
Spirit of the outdoors
Press Release
Guaranteed panoramic view ...
The glass panoramic roof, which was not available on the 206 SW, is part and parcel of the generational leap of the 207 SW, which now possesses all the genes common to the SW range. The entire 207 SW range can now benefit from the brightness created by this roof, either as standard or as an option. Regardless of where they are sitting, this visual opening to the sky or the stars gives the passengers of the 207 SW a feeling of space and freedom. As with the hatchback, the transparent surface surrounding the sun visors and the roof console seem to minimise the bulk of the roof cross member. However, the feeling of length is enhanced by the electric sun blind in particular. As a result, the rear trim of the panoramic roof in the 207 SW is at 25° in relation to the vertical of the rear passengers’ eyes compared with 45° in the 207 hatchback, offering them an even greater experience of the glazed areas of the vehicle. Also, the meticulous choice of the different tints and characteristics of the different layers of glass ensures excellent performance, with a thermal heat transmission of just 14% while maintaining a light transmission of 22% at the same time. Consequently, the 1.106 m2 of glass dispenses a very pleasant brightness, which can be partly or completely adjusted (in 10 seconds) by means of the electric sun blind. The two parts of the sunblind slide individually and are superimposed on each other at the rear of the roof. They are controlled by an electric motor mounted on the rear cross member. The motor is controlled by a switch located on the centre console, near the hand brake, to make it accessible to both the front and rear seat occupants. Thanks to the overall design, and depending on the position of the sun blind, it also assists in reducing the interior noise levels. With its greater width, in order to take full advantage of the light distribution, the panoramic roof is available on its own or can also be combined with longitudinal roof bars. To assist the fitment, two glass blanking plugs, in the form of a half-moon (patented), guarantee a look of quality and can be removed if necessary to accommodate the roof bar mountings, which match the shape.Original roof bars ...
“Visualâ€ÂÂÂ elegance combined with an “avantÂÂÂÂgardeâ€ÂÂÂ treatment echo the functional character of the longitudinal roof bars. Constructed from aluminium, they are located on mountings made from 30% glass-fibre reinforced thermoplastic. They are available in an “aluminium colourâ€ÂÂÂ or painted black, depending on the version. They will withstand a load of 75 kg and their security and resistance to impact have been assessed via special tests. Quick-fitting cross bars and anti-theft locks can be installed without any problem.A versatile rear tailgate ...
The finishing touch to the back of the 207 SW, it gives access to the luggage space in two ways, depending on the version:- on the entry range versions, without a panoramic roof, the steel and glazed parts are integral. The hatch is unlocked electrically via a release button located centrally above the number plate. It can then be lifted without any effort to provide a large opening. Two recesses in the inner tailgate trim allows the hatch to be closed without any problem;
- in the case of the majority of the 207 SWs, the tailgate glass has visible hinges, the style of which indicates that it can be opened independently of the tailgate. This feature is operated by means of a dedicated release button, next to the one for opening the tailgate, from which it is distinguished by the different exterior finish, giving it a different feel. The glass can also be opened independently by means of the 3rd button on the HF remote control plip, which then releases the tailgate glass. The opening tailgate glass is tinted in the same style as the rear quarter panel “trims, which extend either side of it.
- clothing to be placed on the parcel shelf without disturbing the contents of the boot;
- loading to be completed or baggage to be removed without disturbing other items.
A magic modularity in the back ...
The rear seats benefits from a clever folding mechanism that allows the rear seat backs complete with head restraints, to be folded down against the rear seat squabs with just one hand. The seats also fold into the boot floor, providing a perfectly flat extended load area. The operation of the mechanism with invisible linkages and parallelograms has been the subject of several patent applications. It is activated by means of the seat releases located on the top of the backrests and accessible from the rear doors or from the boot. These seats are split 2/3: 1/3 for maximum modularity. With the 2/3 side on the left, this arrangement allows long items to be transported if necessary, while still accommodating four passengers. The rear seat is made from compact, high density foam contained within the cloth seat trims. The seats are produced by using the in situ method. To improve comfort in use, the 2/3 side, which accommodates the central safety belt and weighs 13 kg, has an invisible damper to cushion the folding motion of the backrest and assist with raising it again. With the same desire for practicality, the double buckle of the central safety belt is mounted on a curved cable embedded in the padding. After use, it is stowed in the 2/3 seat padding, which means it can be found easily, does not affect the mechanism and, last but not least, does not affect comfort. This system is triple patented. Naturally, the “magic modularity of the 207 SW rear seats can be combined with those of the luggage compartment if necessary, when it then offers a loading length of up to a maximum of 1.70 metres. For this purpose, the back of the backrest is covered entirely with a bonded moquette fabric and equipped with five plastic load support rails, which extend those on the boot floor. Once the seats are folded, a continuous flat surface is created without any raised portion or recesses, thanks to the specific 3° compensation of the boot floor and a flexible trim.A clever rear parcel shelf
The rear parcel shelf consists of three rigid flaps resting on injection-moulded side supports. Its clever design allows multiple uses in connection with the contents of the boot:- it conceals them completely from the outside;
- it allows easy access from the rear seats thanks to the handle used to fold the first flap;
- it allows easy access to it simply by opening the tailgate glass. A simple and practical reinforced fabric strap is used to fold back the last two flaps and close them again;
- if a very bulky load is being transported, the shelf is easy to stow, folded or not, at the bottom of the boot, where it will withstand a weight of 100 kg. It can also be stowed vertically behind the front seats.
Space and easy baggage handling ...
The boot is a simple design with a tapered lower section measuring 548 mm, whose maximum width of 1060 mm and height of 795 mm under the roof makes loading the vehicle as easy as possible. Depending on the version, either an injection-moulded or stainless steel load sill guard with a ribbed finish protects the tailgate catch and adds an air of quality. The boot is carpeted throughout and offers numerous clever touches and features:- enclosed storage in the right hand boot trim (1 dm3 VDA or 1.7 litre);
- six locating rings distributed over the floor and on the back of the rear seats;
- two hooks to suspend plastic bags, located on the parcel shelf supports;
- a luggage net (depending on the version), which can be installed in a number of ways;
- a fuel can net behind the right-hand wheel arch boot trim;
- an elastic retaining strap on the left.
- in the spare wheel well, the 15 space saver spare wheel;
- above this, a large compartmentalised polystyrene box to accommodate the jack, but also providing
- additional storage space (6 dm3 VDA or 21 litres).
