Understandably the Gumball 3000 is about fun but basically it's a glamorous pan-continental race disguised as a timed road rally. Littered with supercars, pranks and lots of partying by rich and famous individuals, the event is used as an excuse to drive at extreme speeds on public roads. Such arrogance of being "above the law" has finally caught up with the event.
Our friends at Jalopnik.com have been providing joyful coverage of the Gumball 3000 until a disgraceful incident resulting in the death of an innocent motorist occurred. British drivers Nick Morley and Matthew McConville in their TechArt Porsche 911 Turbo allegedly fled the scene after hitting a VW Golf of a 67 year old man and his wife. Leaving the Macedonian couple fighting for their lives, the British drivers managed to hitch a ride with fellow Gumball participants driving a Russian registered BMW M6 but were apprehended by authorities at the Macedonia border. The Macedonian man died of a heart attack on the way to the hospital while his wife remains in critical condition.
Much like the cowardly British drivers, Gumball event organizers apparently tried to protect themselves and cover up the incident. In an effort to control the amount of information leaking out to the media Gumball participants close to the incident were asked not to disclose any information. Event organizers were also slow to contact family members, issue an official response and inform other event participants of the incident.
In the 9 year history of the Gumball 3000 serious accidents and injuries have occured. A fatality was inevitable.

It was all just a matter of time. Rich people thinking that they are above the law and can do anything that they want without repercussions. Nope, the Bush years are over and there is now a day of reckoning.
