SSC, the American supercar company aiming to dethrone the Veyron as the fastest road car on the planet, has failed in their first attempt. They ran into some unforeseen obstacles, one being that their 12 mile stretch was snowed under. SSC did not put their time to waste and attempted breaking the record a few miles away, but that road had only 2 miles which was only suitable for high-speeds.
SSC hit 230mph at just 56% throttle in 6th gear. Plenty of room for improvement, and SSC is convinced they can take the record, if they only have enough road. At a later date, they will return, but that may have to wait till after the Top Marques Monaco motor show.
