GM Might Build Cadillac V12 Super Sedan
Autoweek.com issued a press release today divulging GM's intent to build a V12 Cadillac super sedan based on the Cadillac Sixteen concept car first shown at the NAIAS in 2003. GM's Australian brand Holden is currently carrying out the development work but there's no confirmation of whether it has received the green light for production yet. GM hopes such a vehicle will carry the Cadillac brand up into the upper echelons of the luxury segment which is currently dominated by Audi, BMW and Mercedes. Dubbed, Cadillac Twelve , two of GM's common 60-degree 3.6 liter V6 engines will be joined together at the crank thus creating a V12. It will also receive the latest technology known to be found in today's top-end luxury vehicles such as collision avoidance, GM's cylinder deactivation, state-of-the-art automatic gearbox and many other options never offered before by GM.

I think that this car will be a waste of money for GM because while people now are driving German cars such as BMW and Mercedes, why would they want to go to an American car. The experience is extremely different. The only people weho would want to and even be able to buy it are celebrities and millionaires and they already drive the German luxury brands. There would be more cons than pros to switch from German to American luxury

In respect to the above comment, I think you are off the mark. As a German car enthusiast myself, I understand American cars have a different driving dynamic, however, people like cars that are different and beyond the reach of average car buyers. There are plenty of wealthy older men with Cadillac brand loyalty, perhaps even some driving a Mercedes, who would consider buying it because there is nothing quite like it in production. The Maybach concept coupe, the only really comprabable vehicle albeit superior, is not considered for production. Even if the car breaks even or loses money it raises the perceived luxury of the entire brand.

If GM can suround what sounds like a marvelous Mercedes engine parts with dramatic styling and a good looking quality interior and sell it for slightly less then a comparble benz or bentley GM will definitely have a hit.

But now Stola will be bringing the Maybach Exelero to the market... GM is a day late if you ask me.

I wouldn't waste my money or time on a super Cadillac. How ridiculous to even assume a new cadillac is going to worth the money. They robbed me of 80 grand on that stupid coupe I bought a few years ago. What a big piece of junk! New Cadillacs are for people who strictly buy American cars or for people who cant buy truly dynamic vehicles.
