Press Release
Skoda Auto is going to celebrate a world premiere of the new Fabia Hatchback at the Geneva Motor Show. With both the passenger and luggage compartments sized generously, this five-door small-class vehicle is even roomier that its predecessor. The shape is very typical of the Skoda brand - it certainly guarantees the new Fabia a unique position in the market and shows clearly that the new vehicle is a member of the Skoda family. Boasting a fresh design and dynamic body lines, the new Fabia wishes to attract the existing, as well as younger and more dynamic customers. Altogether seven engines, of which four petrol ones and three diesels, from 44 to 77 kW (60 - 105 hp), meet customers' requirements for the small class more than generously. And although the new-generation vehicle offers more room than its predecessor, its CO2 emission levels are quite low, compared to competitors (from 120 g/km). A Fabia concept car will present the design of the new model in an attractive elegant combination of colours in Geneva. In particular, the contrast between the black body with a pearl effect and the silver-painted roof is most impressive. Looking also very attractive indeed, a white-painted roof will be available for the new mass-produced Fabia. Besides the new Fabia, Skoda Auto is planning to stage another premiere in Geneva, the S2000. This concept car shows the way Skoda Auto might go in motoring sport. Another is the presentation of the Roomster Scout whose distinctive design offers something special to those who wish to show a unique lifestyle. The Octavia and Superb engine portfolio includes two brand new units. A turbo-charged 1.8l engine (160 hp) has replaced the four-cylinder 2.0 FSI (110 kW, 150 hp) in the Octavia, the Superb has got a new 85 kW diesel (115 hp) instead of the 77 kW engine used so far (105 hp). Both of the new engines comfortably meet the EU4 emission standard, have high torque and are extremely economical. On top of that, the visitors will also have a chance to get familiar with Skoda Auto's complete product portfolio. With altogether 549,667 vehicles sold in 2006, the actual production & sales figures have surpassed Skoda Auto's own expectations significantly. Compared with 2005, the sales have grown by 11.7 %. The year 2006 was the most successful one in the brand's history.
