Testing in Australia
In autumn 2007 the French car maker Renault will release its third generation Laguna at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The five door sedan first came on the market in 1993, the second generation followed in the year 2000.
Now the new model is being developed under the code name X91, and here is the latest set of pictures showing a prototype of the sedan during hot weather testing in the Australian outback.
Laguna 3 is an all new car, and Renault is striving hard to improve the new Laguna’s quality. Therefore prototypes are being tested around the globe and were sighted in Sweden, Australia, Singapore and France. While the quality of the current model has decreased considerably it consequently lost customers in the market section dominated by Germany’s Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, Mercedes C-Class, VW-Passat and the new Ford Mondeo.
The new Laguna will measure 10 cm more in overall length than its predecessor, and it will be powered by fuel- and diesel engines ranging from 115 to 245 HP. The latter is a V6 3,5 litre powerplant from Nissan which is already being used in the Espace and VelSatis.
Upon the release in Frankfurt Renault will start with the sedan, the station wagon and a coupe version will follow some time later.
