Press Release
Spectacular loading operation at Leipzig-Halle Airport: Today (Friday), 35 second-generation Cayenne vehicles will be loaded into the cargo hold of an Antonov 124-100. The aircraft will then take off and transport the sport utility vehicles to Mexico for Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG's central dealer presentation. As this event starts on January 29, 2007, the sport vehicle manufacturer has opted to transport the new models by air. A total of 121 Cayenne vehicles must be flown to Mexico this month. Transport logistics are the responsibility of Schenker Deutschland AG, which has performed several air freight consignments for Porsche in the past. The Antonov 124-100 is the ideal carrier: at 69 meters in length and with a wingspan of 73 meters, it is the largest mass-produced transport aircraft in the world. Series production of the second generation of the Cayenne began at Porsche's Leipzig plant in December 2006. The market launch in Europe, the Middle East, and Japan is scheduled for February 24, 2007, with North and South America and the Asia/Pacific region following on March 3. Vehicles will be transported to the major overseas markets by rail and sea, as is typical for Porsche, whereas the Company's European markets will be supplied by rail and road.View Comment Rules
