Compact wagon version for world market
The little compact five door five seater Mazda2 came on the market in 2002 as a replacement for the Demio. It is based on the Ford Fiesta which received a facelift in 2005. Engines are mounted transversely and the car is front driven.
Now the Japanese car maker is preparing an all new successor for launch in April 2007 and according to the prototype shots, also a compact wagon version for the world market.
Outside of Japan the current Mazda2 was sold as sedan only, while a wagon version named “Verisa” is being sold just in Japan and offer four wheel drive as an option.
Two photos are showing a prototype of the compact wagon version during a test drive in California, two photos show the Mazda2 sedan without any disguise. (computer generated)
