Press Release

The Volvo XC60 Concept, part of the Small Premium Utility segment, combines elements of a coupé with those of an SUV. It features a six-cylinder bio ethanol engine, designed to cut emissions of fossil carbon dioxide by up to 80 percent. The XC60 Concept maintains Volvo's focus on safety with its new "City Safe" active collision avoidance system, designed to minimize or avoid damage from low-speed rear-impact collisions. Additional features include a more "pumped-up" design, enlarged iron mark in the grille and a new tailgate design. Furthermore, a pony-tail slot in the head restraints and backrests, first introduced a couple of years ago in the Volvo YCC (Your Concept Car), has been extended in the XC60 Concept all the way down the back to provide enhanced ventilation and improved rearward vision. The production-version of the Volvo XC60 is planned to reach showrooms at the beginning of 2009.
