New 4x4 Coupe
Lots of speculations are being made ever since a first prototype of what is called BMW X6 has turned up in the streets of Munich.
The heavily disguised test car is revealing rather little about what the new cross over model - a four wheel drive four door coupe-like SUV or SUV-like coupe based on BMW's new X5 is really going to look like once it hits the showrooms.
The prototype appears to have less ground clearance than the X5 and is lower but slightly longer. The boxy rear end disguise is probably hiding a sloping roof line, and the car will be sportier in handling and dynamics than the X5. While the latter can seat up to seven passengers, the X6 is going to be a strict four seater.
Power will come from fuel engines between 258 and 355hp. Furthermore two Diesel engines will be offered, both 3.0 litre, performing 235 and 286 HP.
The new X6 is scheduled for release in 2008 only.
The photos are showing a prototype and a computer image as an artist's impression of how the new car could look like upon its release.
