New Peugeot 207CC Revealed
Opens a world of new experience
Press Release
Particular attention has been paid to body rigidity
Since the overall driving pleasure of a cabriolet depends greatly on the car’s rigidity, particular attention has been paid to this essential aspect of the vehicle’s design.
The torsional rigidity of the body for a torque of 100 mdaN applied to the “axles” is 1 mrd in the coupé configuration and 1.50 mrd in the cabriolet configuration.
The performance levels of the platform 1 of the PSA Peugeot Citroën group and the very rigid structure of the hatchback give the 207 CC an extremely solid structure. The structure, however, has been modified to take into account the special features of a coupé cabriolet (in particular structural reinforcements and tie-rods under the body). These modifications help to reduce vibrations, as do “stiffeners” located in the rear wings.
Exemplary road holding
The excellent body rigidity allows the suspension to operate to its full potential, thereby strengthening the overall driving experience and pleasure.
The 207 CC retains the hatchback’s wide front and rear track and uses the same suspension, steering and braking set up.
The 207 CC will be available in two versions specially designed to complement the design of this new body shape:
- a dynamic version associated with the diesel engine and the new 1.6 litre 16v petrol engine;
- a sportier version reserved for models powered by the 1.6 litre THP petrol engine.
The 207 CC has:
- a pseudo McPherson type front suspension;
- a rear torsion beam with an integral anti-roll function with a stiffness adapted to the characteristics of the 207 CC;
- dampers set to a pressure of 5 bar at the front and rear;
- 16~ or 17~ wheels clad respectively with 195/55R16 and 205/45R17 tyres available for both versions;
- impressive electric power steering with parameters specially adapted to the different versions;
- braking assured by four disc brakes measuring 283 x 26 mm at the front and 249 x 9 mm at the rear;
- ESP (as standard or optional according to the version or destination).
No ordinary safety
The 207 CC offers its occupants a level of passive safety that is as comprehensive as possible and that takes into account many different eventualities.
To limit injury as a result of a front impact, the structure of the 207 CC includes a number of reinforcements which compensate for the absence of a “roof”
superstructure. These are combined with a dual front-impact absorption system which, like the hatchback, distributes impact energy between an upper structure and a lower structure. The latter also helps to protect pedestrians.
To reduce the effect of an impact, the design of the A and B posts and side members creates a reinforced solid frame combined with, doors that are extremely rigid as a result of a strengthened upper panel and a tubular reinforcement bar. The doors are also generously padded.
Discreet, active safety roll over bars
To make the very most of the cabriolet body shape, an active roll over protection system is a standard feature of the 207 CC’s safety specification.
This is made up of active roll-over bars and reinforcement tubes inside the windscreen pillars.
Located just behind the rear seats, the two small chrome roll over bars add to the dynamic style of the 207 CC but also serve as a discreet form of protection. When a critical "roll over" situation is detected by the ECU, which analyses information from an angle sensor and the speed of rotation, it instructs the trigger system to release the springs that hold down the roll over bars in less than 25 ms. The roll over bars are then deployed in 175 ms to a height of 200 mm.
The above is combined with reinforced A posts, strengthened by securely located internal reinforcing tubes.
Means of restraint
The 207 CC is equipped with four inertia reel 3-point seat belts and force limiters, combined with visual and audible fasten-seat-belt indicators.
The front seat belt pretension system is triggered automatically at the same time as the active roll over bars.
Five air bags, three of which are specific to this body shape and its particular
driving position, are available to protect the occupants:
- two adaptive front airbags;
- two "head-chest" side air bags located on the outer edge of the seat backs;
- a steering column air bag designed to protect the driver’s lower limbs.
For child safety, the front passenger seat of the 207 CC is equipped with a 3-point Isofix attachment system.
Inside the car
The special architecture of the 207 CC creates a passenger compartment length of 1501 mm, despite the integration of the new safety features, in particular the rollover protection system.
Front passengers
The 207 CC offers sport seats which allow a driving position lower than that of the hatchback, thereby meeting the expectations of coupe-cabriolet users.
The rear seats
A real 2 + 2, the 207 CC offers additional features compared to a strict twoseater, which set it apart and widen its potential customer base.
Controls ideally situated in the upper part of the front seat backs provide access to the rear passenger seats.
A boot …ideal for luggage
To get the very most from the "cabriolet" configuration even when parked, the boot’s contents is protected by a permanent locking feature, intelligently designed to also be easy to use. This ensures the boot can only be opened with the key.
spare wheel and also offers a volume (VDA) of 370 dm3 (449 litres of water) in the coupé configuration, and 145 dm3 (187 litres of water) in the cabriolet configuration, under the load space cover blind which separates the area for luggage, from the area needed to accommodate the folded roof.
User comfort
Meticulously designed temperature control
The 207 CC comes with either manual or automatic dual-zone air conditioning, allowing the front occupants to individually control their ideal temperature. The air conditioning system also has been designed to detect when the vehicle is being operated in the cabriolet configuration, so that it can adapt its operation to the chosen body configuration.
A choice of fragrances
The 207 CC can also be equipped with a fragrance diffuser (seven fragrances are available) perfectly integrated in the fascia panel, the operation of which has been patented by Peugeot.
Hi-tech audio and telematic equipment
The 207 CC can benefit from the following range of equipment:
- an RDS RD4 CD car radio;
- a colour RT3 telematic system comprising an RDS car radio, a GSM telephone and a GPS satellite navigation system with colour cartography combined with a 7" 16/9 multifunction display. This system also allows customers (depending on country) to benefit free of charge and for an unlimited period from a location-finding emergency call service;
Note that this equipment is also protected electronically against the removal of CDs when the engine and the ignition are switched off … a cabriolet dictates this!
- a JBL Hi-fi system;
- a Bluetooth hands-free phone kit, combined with the RD4 car radio.
A simple range
The 207 CC range in France is based on a 3-level range (Sport, Sport pack and Griffe) ensuring:
- access to a "magic" vehicle with sports styling, at a very affordable price;
- one or two more upmarket offers according to equipment levels and associated with an even sportier image
Colours and interior trims
Body colours
The 207 CC offers a range of ten exterior body colours, including four specific colours, which vary the car’s personality: Specific colours: Existing colours
- Parthenon white - Flamenco Red
- Thorium Grey - Aluminium
- Hermitage Grey - Obsidien Black
- Asmara Red - Montebello Blue - Neysha Blue - Lacerta Yellow
Interior trims
The passenger compartment of the 207 CC exudes dynamism through the choice of materials, colours and metallic trimming. This includes the pedals, the choice of the interior trim – leather or fabric, interior decorative trims and the use of integral leather trimming.
The integral leather trim
The ultimate expression of sporting luxury rarely found in a B segment car, integral leather is an exceptional feature whereby the fascia panel and the seats are leather covered. Visible saddle stitching is a further sign of the very exclusive character of this trim option, which is accompanied by contrasting embroidered carpets.
Four ambiences are available:
- Black leather fascia panel, smooth/perforated black leather seats;
- Fusion red leather fascia panel, two-tone red/black leather steering wheel, - Fusion red perforated leather seats accompanied by smooth black leather; - Alezan leather fascia panel, two-tone black/alezan steering wheel, smooth perforated alezan leather seats;
- Black leather fascia panel, smooth/perforated Oran leather seats.
Accessories
Two traditional cabriolet accessories will be available for the 207 CC, a wind stop and a boot rack.
The windstop
While the aerodynamics of the 207 CC has been designed with meticulous care, a windstop has also been developed to enhance the high speed comfort of the front passengers in the cabriolet configuration. It reduces air buffeting and noise, and can remain in place even when the car is being driven as a coupé. Consisting of four flexible panels, it can be stored vertically in the boot in its protective cover.
The boot rack
An elegant luggage rack allows additional luggage to be carried on the boot lid.
