Corolla Verso in Europe - Spacio in Japan - Pontiac Vibe in the US
The Corolla based minivan known as the Verso in Europe has been on the market since January 2001 and now an all new model is now being developed as the replacement.
Here are first time prototype shots of the new “world” car during hot weather testing in the United States. Among the test cars the engineers had one prototype on steel wheels which appears to be a standard model.
The second prototype has sporty alloy wheels with low profile tires, aerodynamic lower body sill extensions with a scoop just in front of the rear wheels, thus indicating that this is a high-performance sports model.
Since the Verso/Spacio/Vibe will be an all new car, one can expect at least an upgrade of the current engines, if not a couple of new ones in addition. Its predicted launch has been moved up for mid 2007 as a 2008 model year.
