Expected for 2007 model year
Mitsubishi's auto show car, the Concept-X, showed a bold new design for the forthcoming Evolution X with a prominent front prow that slopes down and to the rear. Now these latest spy shots are showing a high performance Mitsubishi Lancer sports sedan during brake testing in the Austrian mountains.
Although this test car is not featuring the Evo-typical rear wing, it can be taken for granted that it is a top of the line high performance version, similar to BMW's M3. Quite visible on the close up shot: the car is equipped with the Italian-made brake system by Brembo, and it has two exhaust pipes.
The next generation Lancer is completely new, and features a very sloping windshield, a long roofline, and a very short rear deck. The bold new Lancer is expected to be introduced for the 2007 model year.
The photos are showing, besides the prototype shots, two additional computer generated images as an artist's impression of how the new sporty Lancer sedan could look like upon its release.
