Italy-based JAS Motorsport (Honda's official partner in customer racing support) has worked closely with Honda R&D to develop a racing Civic Type-R to GrN, GrA and GrR specifications. This is a track only, racing variant of Civic Type-R for competition only, expected to be available from Spring 2007.
Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the race Civic features an upgraded engine unit developing well in excess of 200ps and featuring re-profiled camshafts and other internals for competition use, all of which have been tested in the Nurburgring 24 hours Race.
A custom designed 6-speed sequential gearbox has also been developed along with competition brakes, shock absorbers, suspension components and roll cage. The drivetrain is completed by reinforced driveshafts and a state-of-the-art limited slip differential (plate type with adjustable preload). Lightweight carbon-fibre interior parts (door panels, dasboard trims, floor panels).
