Press Release
General Motors of Canada today announced pricing for the new 2007 Saturn Sky Red Line, which goes on sale at Saturn retailers this fall. With a starting MSRP of $37,190, the turbocharged roadster takes the style and performance of the Sky to new levels.
The Sky Red Line accelerates from 0-100km/h in approximately 5.5 seconds thanks to a turbocharged Ecotec 2.0-litre engine, GM’s first direct injection offering in North America. Direct injection technology works well with turbocharging and helps deliver a great balance of power and fuel economy. The Ecotec engine produces 260 horsepower (194 kW) at 5300 rpm and 260 lb.-ft. of torque (352 Nm) at 2500 rpm, making it GM’s highest specific output engine ever at 130 hp / 97 kW per liter (2.1 hp per cubic inch of displacement).
To ensure outstanding driving dynamics, several enhanced features are included on the Red Line including torque-sensing limited-slip differential, StabiliTrak electronic stability control, performance-tuned suspension with coil-over Bilstein monotube shocks, close-ratio five-speed manual transmission with self-adjusting clutch, four-wheel ABS disc brakes and traction control.
“The Sky Red Line truly is the flagship of the Saturn brand, both in design and performance,” said Dave McCall, Saturn’s director of marketing for Canada. “While the technology is sophisticated, the premise was simple: Take the stunning Sky roadster and add buttoned-down performance to thrill driving enthusiasts. We’re confident that the Sky Red Line will demonstrate that Saturn is making vehicles like never before.”
Like its sibling, the Sky Red Line features a long list of standard equipment. In addition, it features some unique interior and exterior elements, including dual exhaust with chrome polished outlets and 18-inch polished aluminum alloy wheels. The front lower fascia includes functional brake cooling vents and a larger mesh pattern in the lower grille for improved air flow and the headlamp feature black bezels to augment the Red Line’s performance appearance.
The interior features a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, unique floor mat embroidery, metallic sill plates, stainless steel pedal covers, Red Line-specific gauges and a digital boost gauge included in the Driver Information Centre. The Sky Red Line also has numerous safety features including dual-stage frontal air bags, GM’s Passenger Sensing System, four-wheel disc brakes with standard ABS, side-impact door beams, three-point safety belts with pretentioners and load-limiting retractors, and more.
Headquartered in Oshawa, Ontario, General Motors of Canada employs more than 20,000 people nationwide. GM of Canada manufactures a variety of vehicles, engines, transmissions and other components, and markets the full range of General Motors vehicles and related services through 765 dealerships and retailers across Canada.
