The Car For Champions

The winner of this years exciting Recaro Formula-3-Cup will be one very happy driver. In addition to taking the crown as F3 champion, he or she will also take the keys to Eibach’s latest project vehicle, the stunning SEAT Leon 2.0 TFSI. Besides some superior Eibach parts, the car also showcases top products from Abt Sportsline, ATS, Hankook, Pantech, Recaro, and of course, SEAT.

As official pace-car during the Recaro Formula-3-Cup, the Eibach SEAT is already a hit with race-goers. For many years now, Eibach has enjoyed their role as official supplier to the F3 championship. With each team proudly sporting the Eibach logo on the car and race suit, the quality and innovation behind each suspension improvement is greatly appreciated by the teams.

The latest “dream machine” to roll from Eibach’s Finnentrop HQ is based on the new SEAT Leon 2.0 TFSI. Already developing a healthy 185 hp out of the box, the ECU gurus at Abt Sportsline have expertly massaged the output to a sports-car embarrassing 240 horses. More than enough for even the most discerning F3 pilot. However it’s not only the engines output that impresses.

Abt’s innovative IS technology (Intelligent-Sport-Tuning) proves you can have your cake and eat it. There may be a veritable stable of extra horses under the bonnet but none of them seem very thirsty. Compared to the series model, fuel consumption goes down by 4 liters, ratified by DEKRA. To complete this rosy picture, the IS system allows the engine to cope with fuel of any quality. More power, less consumption and the ability to run on the cheapest fuel. Automotive Nirvana!

To further perfect this compromise of intelligent performance, Eibach’s renowned Sportline Sport Springs transform the ultimate driving dynamics whilst maintaining a comfort ride. Lowering the car by up to 50mm, they harmonize perfectly with the Eibach Pro-Damper Performance Shock Absorbers. These dampers are specially developed for Pro-Kit and Sportline to compensate the increased spring rate and the decreased spring deflection.

The Eibach Anti-Roll-Kit Performance Stabilizer Bars decrease the load difference between the inside and outside wheels in curves. Thus, a reduction of body roll in curves is provided and under- or oversteer will be minimized.

To compliment the racy new persona of the Eibach SEAT, the Spanish car giant crafted an exclusive body kit. The resulting SEAT Sport Aerodynamics kit not only arrests the eyeballs, but actually improves airflow around the car to improve driving dynamics. Drawing heavily from their experience gained in the SEAT Leon Supercopa and the WTCC, the new front and rear aprons, side skirts and roof spoiler give the car a huge visual lift whilst the stainless-steel twin pipe exhaust system provides the perfect soundtrack to match.

The future king of the Recaro Formula-3-Cup naturally requires a throne. What better than the aptly name ‘Topline’ seat from the series title sponsor. With its Recaro deluxe package adding seat heating, electronic backrest adjustment plus millimetric positioning for height and inclination, the perfect driving position is never more than a button push away.

With a suspension set to ‘stun’ and a motor to match, providing enough grip was important. Chosen was the new Hankook Ventus S1. The flagship design with its three dimensional wave profile, combined with straight grooves ensures immense grip with surprising ride comfort. Despite the enormous 225/40/R18 profile, cabin noise is kept whisper quiet.

The final visual clue to this cars’ sporting nature comes from respected wheel manufacturer ATS. The DTM Competition Wheel provides the ultimate in looks and performance. The 8x18” rim weighs well under 10 kilos, with the attractive 18 spoke design being perfectly presented in a special ‘Highgloss’ finish. As a wheel developed specifically for the arduous tracks of the German Touring Car (DTM) Championship, its racing heritage sits well alongside the other ‘wish-list’ components.

Of course, it’s no good having the hottest car in town if nobody knows about it. To speed this process up, the winner of the 2006 Recaro Formula-3-Cup will also be presented with the latest Pantech PG-3500 mobile phone. Packed with a wealth of multimedia functions including 1.3 Megapixel camera with video, MP3 player including AAC and AAC+ files - all of which can be set as ring-tones - plus an enormous 20MB internal memory and 512MB T-Flash card. It may be heavy on features but the PG-3500 tips the scales at a mere 75 grams. Definitely at race weight.

After a hard fought season, the top of the podium is always the sweetest place to be. But for this year’s winner the drive home is just that little bit sweeter!
