The Italian car maker Maserati is preparing a coupe version of the Maserati Quattroporte, which has been on the market since 2003. With this new GT-style coupe, Maserati intends to enter the booming six-figure coupe market currently occupied by Bentley Continental GT, Aston Martin DB 9 and the recently launched Mercedes CL-Class.
The pictures are showing a prototype during road testing in Germany, but also in Maserati’s home base Maranello more and more test cars are being sighted.
As can be seen on this prototype, it has fake second side doors, but in reality it will come on the market as a two door.
The launch of the new coupe is scheduled for next year at the Geneva Motor Show, also a convertible is in the pipeline. The coupe’s styling is again done by design house Pininfarina. Most likely it will use the same engine as in the sedan, a 4.2 litre V8 producing 400 HP, however, it will be upgraded to 4.5 litres delivering approximately 500 HP.
The photos are showing a prototype plus one computer image of an artist’s impression how the new coupe could look like upon its release.
