Volkswagen Sharan, which has been on the market since 1995 and was created in co-operation with Ford (the Ford version is the Galaxy) is about to be replaced next year with an all new model.
The new seven seater will be produced solely by Volkswagen and will be based on the current Passat platform. The Car will be built in Palmela, Portugal
The Sharan 2 will be bigger than the current model and will adapt to the typical VW-face as seen on the Passat. The transversely mounted engines are coming equally from the Passat program ranging from fuel engines of 1,6 litre/115 HP, to a 2,0 litre/150 HP and a big V 6 3,6 litre /250 HP for the top of the line model. Furthermore a new 2,0 litre Diesel/140 HP will be available.
The photo is showing a first mule prototype for the next Sharan, disguised under an elongated body of a VW Caddy during hot weather testing in the US. One computer image gives an artist's impression of how the new Sharan 2 could look like upon its release.
