  • First vehicle in its class to offer a wagon variant

  • Striking wagon proportions and expanded cargo space of up to . 1,602 litres

  • Unique wide access rear liftgate

  • Choice of four engines including the highly efficient diesel powertrain

Chrysler has launched the wagon version of its award-winning 300C, with prices starting from only $56,990.

Having already captured more than 30 per cent of the upper large, under $100,000 segment with the 300C Sedan, the Chrysler 300C Touring grows the model's appeal adding striking wagon proportions and expanded cargo space.

The 300C Touring shares its major attributes, design, equipment, interior appointments and technical specifications with the 300C Sedan and boasts a host of thoughtful features including a unique wide access rear liftgate.

Available with a choice of four powertrains, the 300C Touring shares the same potent engine line-up as the Sedan; a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine, 5.7-litre HEMI V8 petrol engine and a Mercedes-Benz 3.0-litre CRD turbo diesel engine, are all available from launch. The high performance 300C Touring SRT8 powered by a 6.1-litre HEMI V8 will arrive for sale late this year.

"The Chrysler 300C Touring must be the best looking wagon on the road today," said Gerry Jenkins, managing director, Chrysler Group Australia.

"Today's driver doesn't want to compromise on having a cool looking car just because they have family or business needs. The 300C Touring offers acres of cargo space without losing any of its looks and still manages to deliver with its on-road performance and great value for money.

"From the additional space and flexibility offered in the 300C Touring to the phenomenal performance of the SRT8 and refinement and efficiency of the new diesel engine, the growing 300C family offers a wide range for customers to choose the vehicle that best suits their lifestyle," said Jenkins.

The body of the Chrysler 300C Touring shares the same strong sculpted appearance and structure of the Sedan from the distinctive front grille back to the A-pillars, but it has unique rear side panels, roof and rear tailgate.

With the rear seats occupied, the Chrysler 300C Touring's load area holds 545 litres of cargo, compared with the Sedan's 504 litres. With the rear seats folded down, the 300C Touring's cargo capacity is increased to 1,602 litres. Within its competitive set, the 300C Touring offers exceptional minimum and maximum cargo volume.

The Touring has the same impressive levels of standard equipment as the Sedan, with the addition of a rear cargo organiser and cargo cover.

Standard safety features on the Chrysler 300C include Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and an all-speed Traction Control System, front and rear side-curtain airbags, Xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps, rain-sensing windscreen wipers and a rear park assist system.

Climate control and heated leather driver and front passenger seats also come as standard on all vehicles in the range.

The 300C Touring comes with just a $3,000 premium over the respective Sedan - the range starts with the 3.5-litre V6 priced at $56,990, $60,990 for the 3.0-litre CRD and $62,990 for the 5.7-litre HEMI V8.

In Australia, the Chrysler 300C is covered by Chrysler's three-year, 100,000 kilometre warranty and three-year/unlimited kilometre road side assist.

SMART DESIGN AND SIGNIFICANT ADDITIONAL CARGO CAPACITY

One of the 300C Touring's unique features is its roof and rear liftgate.

The steel liftgate is shaped like an inverted "L," and the hinges are set back over the load area so that the liftgate rises almost vertically and does not require the operator to step back from the vehicle. This unique liftgate architecture also allows for enhanced access to the rear cargo area. The liftgate, fitted with a two-speed wiper and wash system for additional convenience, can be unlocked using the button on the key fob and opened by the centrally mounted external handle.

Both the front and rear seats of the Chrysler 300C Touring are as spacious and comfortable as those of the Sedan with near identical head, leg and shoulder room but offers a much larger cargo area than the Sedan.

With the rear seats occupied, the Chrysler 300C Touring's load area holds 545 litres of cargo, compared with the Sedan's 504 litres. With the rear seats folded, the 300C Touring's cargo capacity is increased to 1,602 litres.

The load area features a removable, roll-out cargo cover, large storage bins in each side panel, four cargo tie-down loops and a 12-volt power outlet. The load floor has a removable tri-fold panel that can be partially or fully folded, or completely removed. When used, small items can be stored below this floor panel. When removed, the maximum available load height is increased by 102 mm.

A cargo organiser and management system, which stores below the tri-fold panel, is standard on all vehicles. It includes a waterproof liner and folding divider with cargo retaining nets.

Additional cargo can be carried on the optional roof bars that come with two crossbars. Roof bar load capacity is 68 kg.
